Any of you use an E Bike for hunting?

I bought one last fall for hunting / general use. but it had an issue with the motor and just got the replacement motor this week. Are you looking at a mid drive or a hub drive?

I use a cube hard tail. It was around $3500. I love it. Have seen lots of game using it. Haven’t pulled the trigger using yet. I found that it was worth the $$$ to get a lighter bike I had a volt with fat tires and it was really heavy and I don’t ride in sand or snow sow the big 4” tires were overkill and way slower. If you go with an ebike I found a good pack that held a rifle was worth it I use a vorn lynx my son uses my old volt and an eberlestock. We don’t like a lot of weight on the back of the bike.

My wife has a three wheel conversion bike that I cruise around our little town on. My gunner buddy Deaner has a real nice semi fat tire e-bike. I may just have to sell a couple of "them old army rifles" and buy one as well. Just think - an crusty old conservative saving the world on his e-bike!

Sold a rifle myself to help fund the purchase.

Cannot use an E-Bike in BC in areas where other motorized vehicles are prohibited.

I'm very lucky as a hunter in BC, I have a huge amount of backcountry minutes from my door and none of it is restricted to motorized vehicles, it is an endless network of logging roads. One could spend a lifetime trying to explore every one... I've spent a lot of time back there with a dirt bike.

Man... I was thinking the same thing. Go lightweight. But I got a good deal on a QuietKat. 35% off and right now the USD didn't seem to be converting to CAD, so I got it for $3100. She's the Ranger 5.0.

What bike did you get!? I may cancel my order and buy what you did!

Interesting topic, I’ve been looking into it a bit myself. It seems like it’s more and more popular in the states. I was considering a Rad power bikes Radrunner 1. Does anyone have input on this? 2k or so shipped to you, and they get great reviews, but I’d like to here from hunters. I don’t intend to use this for anything other than hunting if I do move on it!

You're a lucky man!

... it gets better. I'm in region 2-12 but region 2-16 is a 20 minute ferry ride to Texada Island where we can harvest all three of our bag limit, including a doe (during the right season). However, I prefer the mainland.

My wife and I also built a log cabin an hour from our front door and you're pretty much in the middle of nowhere out there... it sits next to a trout filled lake. I know I know!! Stop being a Bragart!!

It's a wonderful place man. Powell River BC

I love hunting on my ebike. I can cover a lot of territory quietly and I get some exercise. With gas prices insane now I’m going to use it more. I even got a trailer now so I can recover game without going back for my truck. Here in the kootenays it’s so steep that an ebike is way more practical than a mountain bike and way cheaper than a quad.

I was going too BUT the phucking Dicktator NDP gov made it Illegal here in BC in CERTAIN areas  :bangHead:H:S: RJ

Motor vehicle restriciions are in place for a good reason.

Often to keep lazy doughheads on quads from ripping up the alpine.

I got a Tesgo Hummer Pro at the end of last season. About 2,000$ it is a folding fat bike with dual suspension and a 750w hub motor amd 14.5ah battery. I bought it to get to my stands quicker and more quietly, it would also allow me to get back to camp fast and grab my atv once i get a deer.

I got the folding version so i can easily load it into my truck with the bed cap on. Also it is easier to mount because of the lower pass thru section for your legs.

It also has a beefy rear luggage rack and the gears are pretty low so pedaling it is easy on trails.

I am happy with it, i have only used it about a dozen times and it saves me sweating my butt off on the walk in to my stand.

I rigged up a hook system in the back so i can pull my game cart as well as my pelican sled, incase i am hunting so late in the season that i have brought my atv back home for plowing snow.

This thing goes fast and on my tight trails i rarely have it over 3rd gear (you can edit how much power each gear gives you). Battery life wasnt great at about 20km but this was in very cold temps and on slightly rough terrain and using throttle the entire time. Videos ive seen say they should do 50km on a charge, i havent tried riding it in town on paved roads so im not sure how it does in that situation.

I almost pulled the trigger last fall on a Rad Power, then I talked to a few people that had different gucci brands and they all said pay more get more, but in reality i only transportation to and from my hunting site, no fuss no muss. My hunting property is huge and we have great trails so an ebike would be perfect. Maybe this spring I will grab one, I have a new boat coming in the next month so I have to watch my pennies for a bit.

I was considering a Rad Power as well but am still just looking. My brother and his buddy in Hongcouver have 2 of them, one fat and the other plain . They rave about them but only ride the streets so no idea how they’d be on a bush trail. Our hunting trails here are quite rough with lots of large rocks outcroppings so I’m thinking it’s either the atv which is too noisy to be practicable or shanks mare. I would like to try one though…

I hunt eastern Ontario, right in the area that transitions from limestone/flat terrain, to the Canadian shield with granite and hills. I have wondered about the durability as well, however as a younger man I used to ride/race mountain bikes a lot and I have no intention of hitting the fields and woods that hard ever again. I might pull the trigger mid/late summer, see how price and supply is then.
