Had good start to 2022 for coyote hunting. There's no shortage of them that's for sure.

Got this pair last weekend calling over a dead cow. Had 4 come in and I wacked the front two before they got downwind. If wind was better they all would have came right in and there might have been more down. I'm greedy like that ha.

Got these two beauties today. We were running hounds as I seen 2 coyotes at a friend's place. I got one and my good buddy got the other. Ran the second one for 17 miles going by the GPS. He didn't cross any roads, Just back and forth and around and around. He thought he was smart but 3 walker hounds figured him out and he made a mistake. A lot of dark coyotes around the last 2 years. I like it!

Coyotes are in full breeding mode here. Lots of pairs kicking around

Called a pair in this morning, Just doing bark howls within 5 minutes I seen a coyote go into a low spot out of view. Get situated and wait, see him crest the hill at 250 yards, give him the woof and he stops and I shoot - He disappears, I chamber another and look again..standing about 40' to the left still looking my way.

Shoot again and down it goes! Waited another 20minutes then walked over and two coyotes laying 30' apart!

First one dropped so fast in a heap I didn't even see it. It's mate ran right up towards it and stood what looked like same spot in the scope.

More dark colored coyot, Nice white bellies on them, My favorite colored yotes.

Rifle is Sako 85 .22 250

Left there and went to the farm, loaded up my 3 walker hounds and ran the home farm. Dogs pushed this big male south right towards my buddy and he got it. Was about an 6mile chase in about 45minutes.

congratulations on getting some coyotes. i have some friends with coyote hounds and i was with them a few days ago. the hounds put up a yote and he made a bee line for the road. the yote had the afterburners kicking in and we never did get him . he skunked us as we hunted him the rest of the afternoon crossing several blocks. glad to see your coyote hounds . always amazes me how far the hounds will travel and nothing i like seeing better than a yote running a half a block ahead and the hounds coming hot on the trail.

A lot of the ones we chase get away as we don't have all that much land to hunt anymore. Our "home block" as we call it we can hunt every square inch of land from 1 sideroad to the next. If the coyote crosses the north road or south road we are done, We will wait on that road and catch the dogs after the coyote crosses. (Easier said than done, Poor hounds don't understand land boundaries and why we are stopping him from the chase).

Sadly this is the last group of hounds we will own for coyote hunting. Too many houses and city people live here now, All the older guys that I started hunting with have quit, Just not the same anymore.

Not a coyote hunter but have seen lots. It's amazing the colour differences from area to area. Congrats on your hunt!
