my go to powder for my ruger m77 mk2 has been pretty much impossible to source lately , that being H4831sc .
Looking at other options like RL22, IMR7828, IMR 4350 and H1000 but again...... so hard to find any of these powders these days.
My local LGS has some stock of Vihtavouri powders and I have looked at thier reloading data but the data is limitted and I'm a novice reloader who likes to have a lot of data before trying something new.

My go to load in this rifle is 67gr H4831SC under a Nosler 160gr Partition with a Winchester magnum rifle primer. I use the same load for the 160gr accubond.
So I guess I am wondering who else might be using the Vihtavouri powders in a similar load and which one of their powders worked the best for you.

There is a lot of data out there for N560 but I think from a burn rate perspective, N570 is a better choice. Something in the Magnum, MagPro, Retumbo burn rate. I have no experience with it but have asked VV if they have anything for N570 otherwise I might QuickLoad it and work up from a safe starting load. Still a ways off on loading 7mm RM though.

I have an early Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag
With the 160 grain AB or Partition, I am using 66.5 grains
of Norma MRP, or 67 grains of VV N165
For the 150 Scirocco II, the load of choice is 64 grains of VV N160
All these loads shoot sub-moa, Start 2-3 grains lower, please.
Dave.

PS. Most burn rate charts equate N560 as being similar to RL22 or
Norma MRP, but in my experience, N560 is quicker than either of
those powders. Be careful!! D.

GRT puts a 160gr Partition at 3047fps over 68.7 grains of N560. 95.5% load density, 100% propellant burned when loaded to 3.340 COAL. 3298 foot/pounds of energy at the muzzle. I would start around 65 and work up.

VV 560 66 g
ELD-X 150 g
Nos BT 150 g
That were my two best loads.

VV 160 63 g
Berger 140
Best I could get was 1.093 MOA

VV 165 or 560 should be in the appropriate burn rate. There is published data available. Copied from the VV website - note the headers do not line up perfectly when copied:

I've been to thier website but they only list 2 160gr loads and they aren't for the bullets I'm loading...... and this is why I am here asking if anyone has data for the actual bullets I'm planning to load. Those being the nosler 160gr partition and accubond.
Gonna grab some N165 and see what I can do with that.

N165 -66gr/Win or Fed brass /Fed mag primer/140gr Hornady SP .443" 3 shot group at 100 yards
N165-61gr/same as above/same as above/160gr Accubond .74" group at 100 yards........or 61gr of IMR4350/160gr Accubond .439"

Data for the "actual" bullets you have does not matter as much as you seem to think. You are shooting those loads from your barrel, the lab is using theirs. Barrels differ at least as much as bullets of different makes but the same weight. I always try to compare several sources of data. It also is reasonable to test a load based on bullet weight, even when the recipe is not the exact bullet desired. Same for cases, primers too. Work up carefully, stop increasing powder when accuracy is good or velocity is at book max or back off if there are any indications of excess pressure on your brass.

GRT puts a 160gr Partition at 3047fps over 68.7 grains of N560. 95.5% load density, 100% propellant burned when loaded to 3.340 COAL. 3298 foot/pounds of energy at the muzzle. I would start around 65 and work up.

I am quite certain that load would lock my 700 up. I stopped at 65 grains of N560 behind the 160 Partition.
Case head expansion was .0018" and the case head was marked with the ejector circle. As I stated, be
careful!! I would be starting at 63 grains of N560. Dave.

I've used N560 In two or three calibers as the main hunting load. .I treat it like RL22, only a little faster. I like it. But it has it's quirks. It is not lineal , it needs a minimum pressure. Then, it's brilliant. It has a pressure sweet spot.

I did some experimenting with plain jane IMR 4831 and 140gr TSX bullets. i got some excellent loads in my old Rem BDL 7 mag. no need to try any other powders

looks like my local lgs , lone butte sporting goods won't be supplying me any powder LOL Their website shows stock of various powders but i go in there and he tells me they are "on hold" for someone ...... I guess he is giving me less reasons to spend my money there. Everything i ask for is "on hold" ...... whatever.

so now my quest for powder for my 7mag continues
