For precision results, everything must be perfect. Since nothing can be made perfect, all the varying degrees of imperfection in the components of a shooting system coalesce into the results observed on target. We can manufacture the rifles to a high degree of precision, but the ammo remains out of our control and subject to the inconsistencies of mass production. Would a .22 LR Directed Energy Weapon be boring to shoot in comparison?

When all is said and the dust settles from the bullet that went off target from the nice little hole the previous 4 had made, well that’s why we continue. Most of the points made in this thread have merit as to why some diverge from the same path others travelled. On another note You sir figured out how to get 25 (5x5) into an area not much bigger than the actual bullet. That charge is what keeps most of us doing it. Cheers All

Wow... it's been over two years since I did that 1/4" target. To me it felt like the 1000 monkeys on a 1000 typewriters kind of situation... I haven't had the pleasure of truly lot testing ammo and knowing I was shooting "the good stuff", so eventually I happened to line up 25 rounds that were capable of staying inside 1/4" and I did my part on the shooting. I'd like to do it again with another rifle.
