Ohh, just got back from the local sporting store and they had Challenger mini's birdshot!

I know they won't feed reliably in my pump, but these would be insane with a SxS!

Can't wait to try them out.

Anyone else got some? How was the performance on grouse?

David

The new model mossberg 590S were designed to use the mini shells without any adapter, I have one of the rubber adapters for my older mossberg that allows them to feed reliability and you get a whack more in a full tube

What pump do you have? There might be a trick to get them to somehow work.

With my 870s ... I cycle the action back ... then tilt the gun to the side so that the shell rolls to the top of the receiver and inline with the bolt .... and then I cycle forward. Works most of the time.

However, you will not win a speed cycling competition ... ;)

I use them in a shockwave. They're alright, not sure if worth the extra cost, but a decent shell for new/inexperienced shooters.

I liked using the slugs and buck in my over under huglu with battue sights. Low recoil fun, despite reports of uselessness

Sir. You should be aware that I am using this as an excuse to try to purchase another SxS ;-)

Seriously, I have a Pardner pump...probably the cheapest pump there is.

Lol .... in the meantime you can try the shorties in your Pardner pump and with the cycle back/tilt/cycle forward method.
The Pardner pump is an 870 clone.

Nornal cycling will not work reliably.

They will kill grouse even from 9.8" barrels. But so will the challenger 2.5" ($17.99/25) and so will 2.75" aa lite ($12.99/25) the mini shells are of standard pressure. The newer line of 2.5" classic doubles from challenger are said to be lower pressure if youre looking for less recoil. They also pattern better in every gun ive compared them in against the mini shells.

Ohh. New discovery for me anyways. Had never heard of those challenger cartirdges. Very cool. 7500psi from what I've read.

Look at that shell holder full of mini shells. Those must be signalling shots? Where are the other 35?

Getting a lot of mileage from that pic :bsFlag:
