not sure if this is the best spot to post this info received this from gun club

Bass Pro /Cabelas are rationing ammo. 5 boxes per customer per calibre. They were told yesterday no more ammo deliveries for several months They advise to get your hunting ammo now because it may not be available later. There is almost no 7mm Rem Magnum available anywhere and 30-06 is low inventory.

this would be Toronto/ Barrie and possibly all Canada

yup will be canada wide.
My LGS is having huge problems getting anything ammo or powder/primers/bullets related.
He says supply is not the issue so much as it is impossible to transport anything since canpar shut us all out. We are in rural BC with no UPS depot so having ammo or powders/primers shipped here ain't happening.
I watched my preferred 7mm rem mag hunting ammo go from 58.00 a box (sept 2019) when I bought the only 2 boxes I could find. Then last year no matter where I looked online or in person I could not find that ammo at all. This past season sept 2021 that particular ammo was in stock finally and I bought 2 boxes at 64.99 a box. Couple weeks later I happened to be in that same store as they were restocking and noticed a few boxes of my favorite so grabbed 3 more boxes. The price ???? what was 64.99 in september was now 72.99 at the end of october...... crazy.
So I have been stocking up on what i need to reload that particular ammo because I'd hate to see what a box of federal premium 160gr nosler partition in 7mm rem mag will be going for next hunting season....... my guess will be 102.99 come sept 2022.

Nothing new in the past 24 months.
Last fall I tried to buy two boxes of 338 WM for a new 2 me rifle and was told only one box per customer and this was a family owned store in Vancouver.
Dont have an answer to the dilemma, but it is nothing new.

Local sporting store limits rifle ammo to 2 boxes per customer. I'm glad I got mine last year at Canadian Tire (of all places): 2 boxes.

No limit on shotgun ammo.

When are y'all gonna learn to stash 'n hoard during the times of plenty?cou:

And don't think reloading is the answer. Powder and primers get just as scarce as loaded ammo, during the lean years.

Most people never will. I am sitting on a double digit amount of pounds of powder, a healthy 4 figure sum of projectiles and primers...all purchased before 2020. My only regret is not getting more although i have plenty. LOL.

I was at Canadian Tire last week and was in the gun section when I over heard a native ask for the price on 30-06 ammo in 180 gr. Once he was told the price all I heard was I'll take them all with no problems.

You would have bought them all if you didn't have to pay tax on them either .

I have enough components to last me 20 years hunting with a rifle, and at 61, that will do me. Shotshells are another matter, I shoot many more, and they take up a lot more room to store, so I have a 2-3 year supply on hand.

I am good for 30-06, 300 WM and 30-30 plus 243 and 22-250 because I bought components for years . But where in the world I will find 7mm-08 and 270 and 6.5 I so far haven't seen a shell here yet. So they sit out the season or seasons till I do. \

I have at least 5 years worth of needed components for 1x different chamberings, so not too worried.
I try to think ahead. So far, have not been caught empty handed. Dave.

Unfortunately the old saying..."Buy it cheap and stack it deep!" no longer applies. It is now adapted to..."See ammo, buy ammo, regardless of price!" I am good in all my cartridges, both factory ammo and reloading components. I remember the last shortage, was mainly rimfire, but I thought it will happen again and probably affect more than just rimfire, so I started hoarding, glad I did!

Stock has improved around here in the last few months (Edmonton) but I have noticed that particular calibers, 30-06 being one of them is still hard to find unless you want to buy the pricey premium stuff.

Fail to plan, plan to fail.

I am set for the next 3-5 years.

This shortage will not affect me.

Things are going to get interesting on the 16th of the month with regards to the supply chain, a close friend of mine works for CP rail and they’re going on strike on that day. So lots of things will not be moving if they walk out or the company locks them out.

Just went to grab a few boxes of slugs at a local sporting good store. Guy at the counter said they usually have plenty of extra ammo in the back, but now, everything they had is at the counter.

Also, he told me that Winchester said they wouldn't produce any ammo for the commercial market this year. So it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
