New scope help 22lr

I'm inheriting a browning t bolt from my late grandfather and looking for a scope to top it. So far the two I like best are the burris droptine and the leupold vx freedom, both in the 2-7x offering. Anyone have experience with these scopes? Is the Leupold worth the extra money? I've used both brands in the past and would use either again, no preference in that regard. Thanks for any insights.

I am partial to Leupold and therefore a Leupold Fan Boy.
My suggestion is if you have both place them side by side (scopes) and take a peak at a target ....your eyes will tell you what to buy.

My vote for Leupold as well. I have an older 2-7x33 EFR on my Tikka T1x and it's the perfect combo.

A Leupold 2-7x33 EFR scope must be a very rare find. The Leupold 3-9 EFR is a great general all-purpose rimfire scope.

Lol, you're right. Mine is actually a 3-9.

Iirc correctly , I missed one the other day in the EE.
It was attached to a CZ 452 in 17HMR but, yes the 3-9 EFR would also work exceptionaly well too.

Having used both a 2-7x28 and now a 3-9x40 Leupold rimfire scope, I’d highly recommend the 3-9x40.
Burris scopes are good bang for the buck but I think you’ll find the Leupold is a little nicer. The image is a brighter, whiter whereas the Burris gives everything a slight red/brown colour. The bigger objective lense and increased magnification are a definite advantage.

Any opinions on the Vortex Diamondback SFP 2-7x35 vs the Leupold/Burris options? It looks like the little brother of a basic (ie: non-parallax adjustable) 4-12x40 Diamondback I have.

In case you're curious about some side information, I was in the same spot recently.
I have a Ruger 10/22 and wanted a new scope. Made spreadsheets of models with stats and prices to choose the best one.
Eventually ended up choosing a 3.5-10x40 Leupold VX-3HD (which is one step up from the vx-freedom) over vortex or Athlon or Arken.
As far as I can tell, Leupold has much better glass quality/clarity which is incredibly important.
The 33mm objective lens will definitely fit a .22 and larger objective lenses will fit as well, my 40mm lens still has room above the barrel.
Make sure your scope rings will fit on the picatinny rail (if you have one). If not, grab a rail that
Scope rings usually don't come with the scope.
Leupold is one of the higher-tierscope makers and their price matches that reputation.

I like my leupolds. The freedom line works and leupolds screw on magnetic lense caps and sun shades are good quality. Another plus to the brand is mostly still made in the USA.

A key thing I look for in a rimfire scope is parallax dialing back to 25 yards for those competition targets that are practically in your lap. Being able to reach way out and dial back and forth are important too, but centrefire rifle scopes are going to be thinking much further out for both the minimum and maximum ranges.
