My father wanted me to have these. Some of them I know what they are, but if anyone can offer done detailed insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

....

Veterans Affairs Canada has a look up site where you'll look at the ribbon and see the award conditions. The simple answer is WW2 vet with service on the continent, a Defence Medal (service in UK during a specified period), Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for volunteering vs being drafted, a coronation medal (?), and 32-plus years of undetected crime.

Edited to add - the three badges across the top are Administration Branch collar dog prior to 1997, when the clerks were smashed together under the Logistics Branch, the collar dog on the other side. The beret badge in the middle is the Medical Branch, and pairs (but not well) with the battledress shoulder flash.

Awesome. Thank you very much. Never thought to look at the Veterans Affairs site. I'll go check that out.

39-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal (Svc in UK), Voluntary Service Medal, 39-45 War Medal, Canadian Decoration (for 12yrs good service, each bar is a further 10 yrs each)

A little UFI for you, the Cdn issued Defence Medal and the War Medal are silver. Ones awarded by the British are cupronickel.

At some point he had them plated. A lot of vets did that so they stay shiny as the stars are bronze and the silver would tarnish. CD looks untouched. His are what is referred to as Court mounted and no longer have the original silk ribbon they were issued with. Replacement ribbons are nylon. The silk is pretty hard to find these days.

Wow. Thank you very much. One of these days I'm going to make a display with some cannons my grandfather had a hand in making..
