(I)found a 31 t bubba had his way with it, cut wood, removed pads, drill(ed) & tapped for a weaver mount. got new wood, bands, pads, etc. need to have holes filled and get rep(r)o mount. took it to the range shoots 1.5in @ 100yds
How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't know about up there, but down here you can pick up a shot out rifle for less money than all of those parts are going to cost you. You won't find everything you need on the "donor", but a rifle with a pitted out bore generally sells cheap.

I 100% agree that if you have a legitimate T receiver and barrel that it's worth the work. When I look at the prices of simple bits and pieces they add up to more than a $100 gun show rifle. You won't be able to build up a full rifle that way, but I'm betting that you will still save money.

Just as important as that 'T' is that date. 1931 means it's a trials rifle. Couple both together and there is very good reason to spend what it takes.

I'll second that...he did a hell of a job on my 49 LB.
Does this Trials T have the waisted front sight protector still on it? If so that's one less hard to find item...you'll need a hinged front band too. Does it have the mag cutoff on it?

Did you mention this rifle on Jouster before? I think I heard about this on Jouster or Milsurps.

From the photo, the sight protector appears to be original.
Restoring the rifle to early sniper configuration would not necessarily be the same as restoring it to 1931 TT configuration. Could not a rifle have gone through a bit of a rebuild when being converted to a T? If that happened, early pattern No. 4 parts could have been used.
