Trouble finding revolver holster for use in IPSC

I am looking to casually start participating in the local IPSC practices in my area and want to use one of my revolvers; S&W 686+ (7-shot) 6", or 610 6.5". The problem I am running into is that I can't find an entry level (cheap) holster for either revolver. I bought a Size 3 Uncle Mike's for the 686+ based on their size chart and what came in would not be IPSC legal. It fits the 686+, but it leaves the trigger guard completely exposed. I found the CR Speed Universal holster, but it turns out it's not that universal and can't find any online reports that it works with either of the revolvers I want to use. Even Blade Tech does not have anything that would fit.

Does anyone know what number size of Uncle Mike's would fit the 686 or 610 (L-Frame and N-Frame respectively) while covering the trigger guard?

Anyone know of any affordable speed holsters that fit L and N Frame revolvers?

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Update: Amazingly, I found a CR-Speed Revolver holster used. Now I am set for any revolver.
Thanks Guys!

Forget about 'affordable'. You've got enough going against you, just trying to find the right holster for the job. Focus on finding the right holster; when you find it, buy it.

I hope someone here has a cheap solution for you, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you want to use those revolvers for IPSC, you're probably going to have to bite the bullet and accept a pretty costly holster as the only option. Just look at it as the cost of doing business for shooting what you want rather than what everyone else has...

Cylinder size is the same, but the flooting is not.

Then just blast the holster with a heat gun and ram the gun in there so it takes the shape.

Works great on Glock holsters to fit anything Gen5 (ambidextrous controls) in one so it should solve your problem hopefully.

Given those two options definitely go for the Speed Beez. Fobus holster have a questionable history for fitting what they say they do.

I asked already and they only have a mold for 686, not the 686+.

You list as being in Kelowna, Solely Canadian is in Grand Forks, an easy 2.5 hour drive. Maybe you could meet up with SolCan and get it custom done? Not sure if he'd let you, but it might be worth asking

You have over $3,000 tied up in revolvers and are asking about cheap holsters??? I doubt you will find anything "Cheap" for either revolver. Same can be said for speed loaders. Buy once and cry once is one truth you cannot dismiss when it comes to firearms and the stuff that goes with them. Give the marketing Department at S&W a call. They can direct you to a source I am certain. Speaking from experience when it comes to Kydex holsters Soley Canadian is as good as you will get. For speedloaders and holders ect, try google and follow your nose.

Take Care

Bob

I'm using a Solely Canadian GP100 holster for both the L frame Ruger and a S & W 627 N frame eight shooter. Just needed to adjust the tightening screw a bit. Steel Challenge rather than IPSC.
