There's a beautiful and seldom encountered G98/40 up for sale on Gun Post right now.

$2795 Canadian, which is about $US1500 below what it would sell for in the US.

All matching and appears to be in at least 90% condition.

I've owned a few of these in my day but I've never seen one as nice as what those pics show.

well there is one at Legacy collectibles in the USA for $1995 USD. Which would be less than this one in Canada
 
Dgradinaru is right the front barrel band is not original to the g98/40 it's from a k98 and it looks like the stock has been modified to fit it, also the mid barrel band seems too wide, and if I'm not mistaken the mid band is not held in place with the k98 style band spring.

Thanx for that, it's been a while since I had mine and I didn't notice a difference.
