Anyone know where a fella can get a C no 7 is good condition for an acceptable/ reasonable price?
Yes that is what I have been seeing, they have doubled in the last 3-4 years, haven't see anything for $1200, if I could find one as you described for approx $2500 I would take it. I don't know much about them so I try asking you guys in the know questions to learn more as I don't want to pay $2500 and get the $1200 dollar rig. I shot them in Cadets too long ago and loved them, and I guess that is mostly why I want one now before I am too old to shoot it!Depends on what you consider "reasonable" because generally the Cno7 rifles are not. I think you could consider yourself very fortunate if you found an original unmolested factory assembled rifle for $2500. Prices will reach around $4K from there. Most are assembled rifles on surplus receivers....these can start around $1200 or so these days.

Yep, same here, I am wherecyou were when you decided to get the $800 dollar gun and be done with it, there are no deals on these!Your problem is the less scrupulous guys will assemble one of the $1200 put-togethers and advertise it as original for the $2500 price tag. Do your homework and know what to look for.
There was a put-together at Ward's auction a year or so back that was advertised as excellent and possibly unfired. It went for a lot of money. The signs that it was not a factory rifle were very obvious.
Don't get hung up on that $2500 price quote. Thirty years back I spent time looking for the $300 example, but the few I saw at the gun shows were going for $500. So I finally resigned myself to the fact they were going to be a $500 rifle but by that time they climbed to $800. So I quickly resigned myself to paying that price.
Well, StenCollector hopefully the one I bought off of you for 2k was a parts gun LOL
