I picked up this BRNO SxS recently and haven’t been able to find any info or pictures of another like it online.

Most that I have seen appear to be somewhat utilitarian/plain looking guns.

Has anyone come across one like this with such elaborate engraving? I’m assuming hours upon hours to engrave something like this?

The acanthus is heavily incised, stippled background, somewhat coarser than the single photo of an engraved ZP series shotgun in the 70ish hardcover Brno catalogue that I have.
You have a very uncommon gun, nice wood, nice condition - may you shoot it well.

A 12 gauge ejector would be a ZP 49, and a 16 gauge ejector ZP 50.
The catalogue that I have does not show designations for engraved guns.

Very nice SxS. I'm curious. Does your gun have a long or short trigger guard? I ask because I have a ZP49 with the straight stock and it has the short guard. Someone told me that it must be a modified pistol grip stock because straight stocks should have long guards. But I have seen other photos of straight stocked Brnos with short guards so curious as to yours.

It would make sense that the english stocked version would have a long trigger guard. If this is the case with this gun then whoever did the conversion of the stock did a wonderfull job of extending the checkering because the checkering on a pistol grip gun doesn't extend as far back as this. Not that it couldn't be done but it was well done if it was.

That checkering and short trigger guard is exactly the same as mine and photos of others I have seen so I would say that Brno did not put long trigger guards on their straight stocked guns.

Loved this example of a nice older ( middle budget), 12 gauge SxS.

BRNO isn't really known for their esthetics, but this one sure bucks that trend. Love the straight stock, and the engraving.

I bought , NEW , 1 like yours as a Bruno ZP - 49. It has asilver coloured resceiver & blued / engraved side plates.
Lower tang is short. Your side plates are much more engraved than mine. My receaver is not engraved @ all.
Your butt stock sling swivel has been changed from the original type to a US type.
Lovely Gun !!!! I paid $500. for mine from Le Baron, in Mississauga about the '70s I think.
I bet you paid a lot more for yours ?

Nice, I got this gun from a member here and I guess I got a pretty good deal then.

If it shoots as good as it looks and feels it will definitely be a keeper!

Very nice! The trigger guard and checkering are identical to mine, which is a plain / extractor 12 ga. model ZP47 with straight grip stock. I really like this version. The engraving is a wonderful bonus!

Interesting gun (and nice find!)

Just thinking out-loud.
- I've seen a few ZP49 with scroll work (like what's on the trigger guard), but nothing with that debt of engraving on the receiver.
- I was half-expecting some engraving on the barrels

What's the barrel length/choke/weight of it?

Engraving on the receiver, side plates, tang, release lever, foreend iron, trigger guard and screws but none on the barrels except for rib.

28” Full/Mod, Ejectors and 6lb14oz to be exact.
