Chinese Type 53 Mosin Carbine

Thanks to a good friend of mine I was able to add this Chinese type 53 Mosin carbine to the collection and I wanted to share a few pictures of it. I’m curious to see if anyone else on here has one. I would love to see some pictures. This is a very early production rifle made in 1954. It has seen extensive use over the years. Only if it could tell stories!

Awesome addition, and super hard to find in Canada.

My father picked up one of these years ago. It was rough and the bore didn't look good, but it shot well. He decided in his infinite wisdom to cut it down and cut off the bayonet lug to use as a truck/canoe gun when he went bear hunting. I still have it and wished he had never mucked it up.

I wonder why there aren’t more in the country, considering we have so many type 56 rifles here.

I think the vast majority are all Vietnam war bring backs. I don’t believe they were ever exported for overseas surplus markets.

Most of them ended up in the USA, a few were sold in Canada by Century before they moved the Montreal wharehouse to Vermont. The ones that came from China were extremely rough, a few years some came out of Albania and were in much better but because of the original end user agreement they were not exportable out the USA, believe me I tried.

I imagine this was probably one of the ones out of China. It’s all there but the bore is pretty much shot out. I am tempted to shoot it a couple times though.
