Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

I have more.

Amazing how people have the guts to offer 1K which was the lowest low ball I got. Another one was the notorious 1.2 K guy who always is posting here. I have a feeling that he has to wait for the cow to come home.

i had no offers cos i said firm, maybe its just you they are messing with, lol.

a blonde fixed was listed yesterday and gone today. i think blued/blonde are better, imho opinion.

Awesome, I am looking for a fixed stock model. I wonder if they will come with that red stained stock again?

yes, in red cos its the same production, just shipped to canada in 3 or 4 shipments.

Lol, the guy who isn’t going to pay more than $1200. His posts about that are ridiculous, he’s never heard of taxes or shipping costs.

I got a feeling these are going to steadily go up in valve over the years. Won’t be that long until $2k is a good price

Agreed. Prices are up already and will go up more.

I had a folder in blonde/blued which I sold for 2,200 with 4 mags.

Looks like True North Arms is working on a Beryl-style rail for the Type 81 LMG, https://www.instagram.com/p/CcBFA7irK8P/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link. Looks like it attaches to the rear sight block in then front, not sure about the back. It looks like it has enough clearance both allows dust cover removal and maybe allow use of the iron sights. Looks pretty sweet, kudos to TNA!

Nice, at least something is happening. I thought Murray would do something but if you want to actually sell something, better reply to messages and let the cat our of the bag.

Same with the other guy who posted on here, just hot air.

Machine shop lead times changed wildly with the break out of the Ukrainian War. Takes 1 to 3 months to make stuff in Canada now. Eveyones ridiculously busy building stuff for the energy sector.

That makes perfect sense, thanks for the update!

Ultimately, a side rail may work better for those who don't want to shoot from a standing position. As someone noted on Instagram in the comments, the height over bore is problematic on the TNA rail for prone shooting; hopefully TNA will pair their rail with some kind of cheek riser for the LMG stock to compensate.

Probably around 5000 rifles and LMGs, there should be around 1500 LMGs in the country. By the way the hanguard ferrule on the LMG isn't the same as the one on the rifles. You'd have to redesign the front part of the hanguard that interfaces with that ferrule if you want to sell some for the LMGs. The ferrules aren't drastically different, on the rifle it's more rounded while on the LMG more square. Personally I'd buy one for my LMG.

I would buy one for the LMG as well.

LOL that was me on Instagram who mentioned it and not just prone shooting. For all general types of shooting unless it's benched

They discuss using high mounted optics with night vision in the below Garand Thumb video. Would the TNA rail be much higher then that of the handle/rail on one of the rifles in the video?

How quick this community is to turn on its own.

LOL. They are also shooting ARs with straight inline stocks

If yiu have personally never tested them I can understand where you are coming from BUT I have and at the height that TNA rail sits, it will be a chine weld. Ifnthats what yiu want go for it. I personally want the optic as close to the bore as possible

If having the optic sky high wasn't an uncomfortable way to shoot then TIs mount wouldn't be as close to the dustcover as it could be

No need to continue to defend them. Others see exactly what I meant too on the IG post

Fair enough.

I'm not the first person to do this but the Zenitco B30 and B31 fit with a bit of filing. The wood from the upper handguard piston cover needs to be removed, and I had to grind down the front wood retainer to get it to fit under the B31 upper rail, along with some filing on the B31 itself. It took 15 minutes of hand filing at the back of the lower to get it to slip over the receiver, and the original handguard screw needs a washer to secure the lower. The front handguard retainer cap sits right against the inside of the lower handguard for some extra support. Everything fits together surprisingly good and it feels tight. No idea how well it will retain zero, but I'm just doing this until I can get a side mount (ad in EE if anyone wants to sell me a kit).
