Last year when I forgot something at home and left my shooting bench at the make shift range it was gone when I returned. Now it wasn’t the best, so I am not totally bummed. What I am looking for is photos of your shooting benches (especially portable and take down). Also tell me what you like and dislike about your setup.

I would prefer wood builds but open to anything.

Show me what ya got!

Not the best photo of it but built this one couple years ago. Very sturdy and great with the cutout for right hand shooters. 2 buddy’s that have used it have built copy's. Not very portable though

Tagged for interest.

I am considering the mtm folding bench personally. I know it will be fairly unstable compared to a fixed, or even higher quality portable setup but I mostly shoot with kids or plinking under 50 yards so rock solid bench is not a huge need.

This works and is portable 349DA822-4A44-4337-853C-221401EB6A7C.jpg1B846020-2D4E-46AA-A840-AFDE8D353D05.jpg

Haven’t got any pictures of it, but I made one that goes in the receiver of my truck. Sit on the tailgate. Even added a trailer jack to it for more stability.

I wanted a bench but did not want to buy or build anything. So I cut a 3/4" wooden top to fit on my mitresaw stand.

The specific stand I use is an old Mastercraft one and it is heavy, stable and reasonably portable. Has stood up to the elements too. I found a chair that is the right height and it is a joy to shoot from and takes a minute to set up.

My stand is similar to this model:

Couldn't find a good photo of the one I built, but this is a part-view of it. I'd built a shooting shed on my father-in-law's property, shot there for years. The top from this bench came from the shed, I built it from 1 x 4 spruce recovered from skids and cleaned-up. When the property sold, I took this bench part and designed removable, height-adjustable legs and CNC-cut them out of Baltic Birch plywood. The legs require no tools to assemble. It was never meant to be a permanent solution, always thought I'd design/build an upgraded version. This one has worked so well that I never saw the need. I usually jam a beach umbrella into the ground beside it and tie it to the bench. I've been asked to make more of these. lol

I use a hardware store purchased picnic table with fold up legs. Sturdy enough, carries easily by one person, lots of table room for ammo ect. I use an adjustable stack of 6x6 or 4x4 or any dimensional scrap lumber for the rifle rest

Thanks all. I have used all sorts of tables but want something very stable. Reason for take down is there are 4 shooters in our household and I don’t want to have to drag a trailer for all our crap to go shooting. I love the screw in legs bench in posts above but can’t seem to source them.

Looks good folks!

Here is my bench based on one featured by Rick Jamison in a magazine article many years ago. We had a local welder construct the leg mounts using standard black sprinkler pipe fittings. The legs are threaded sprinkler pipe.
