Hi.. A fellow I know is planning a move to the U.S. He will be filling out the ATF form 6 for his firearms but was an anxiously wondering if the SKS will be allowed in or not.
Anyone know if former ComBloc weapons can be taken to the States?
Thanks
...atf form 6 is not for an immigrant that is moving to usa the form to use ... as the form 6 is for non permanent use of the tools in the usa (short term for shooting or hunting) not moving in.
I’m stunned that anyone moving to the US gives a #### about taking an SKS. They are crap compared to the ubiquitous basic AR15.
never been able to bring any russian or chinese tools with atf from 6 since i ve been in canada so over 16 years now.

Are you sure?

I am moving to the USA as well soon, New Mexico actually. Russian and Chinese produced arms are specifically banned from import. However some Russian firearms are excepted. The Mosin 91/30, M38 and M44 are importable however the bayonet may need to be removed from the M44. Your SKS however is banned unless you are a Veteran importing it as a war trophy. Arms with Bayonets, bayonet lugs, attachable flash hiders, adjustable telescopic stocks and pistol grips are not allowed as they do not meet "sporting definition". If you are travelling on a TN Visa like I will be then you can not bring in firearms unless you possess a hunting license in the state to which you plan to reside....if you are bringing in pistols tell your friend to have both a hunting license as well as a local range membership...then you are excepted and can bring in your "sporting" definition arms and pistols along with up to 5000 rounds of ammunition (which also can't be made in China or Russia, thanks to Bill Clinton).

this is very interesting. so basically, no chinese and russian sks which are cheaper here but on the bright side everything else would be cheaper in the US and he can own AK and FAL. so T97 and T81 are also a no go
for a while for the t97 and t81.

sorry, i didnt mean it to sound like a question. i knew they been banned since 1994. lol.
It's ironic that you can't take a Chinese SKS into the U.S. considering the first two I bought were brand new Chinese SKSs from Sarco in New Jersey.
