Grenade Launcher removal and muzzle device issue

I purchased a kit from someone to reduce the barrel diameter and thread for muzzle device. Grenade launcher removal: no problem. Reducing the diameter: no problem. Threading: problem.

On line references state M14 x 1 LH, case for die labelled M14 x 1 LH, I thread barrel, goes ok, attach muzzle device (part of kit I bought) little loose, check die, labelled M16 x1 LH.

How f#$ked am I?

No markings on muzzle device but appears to be threaded for M14 x 1 LH, no crush washers or jam nuts included or installed yet.

Would Red Loc-Tite help?

Thanks

Stripped that ugly African war lord red off this “special edition” and stained + Poly’d it to make it my own “special edition”. much more Kalashnikov like. I also cut the rear sight bar off so it’s now an open rear sight giving me a better sight picture!

Looks fantastic, what did you use to strip the paint?

It's good to know there's some half decent wood under that paint.

I have more.

Amazing how people have the guts to offer 1K which was the lowest low ball I got. Another one was the notorious 1.2 K guy who always is posting here. I have a feeling that he has to wait for the cow to come home.

I always wondered if someone sold him one for 1200 LOL. He might be the same guy in another site looking for a type 81 for 1200 LOL

Lol I had one posted for 1500 he asked me why he should buy it when ti will get more in late spring?
I said because that’s what the market is right now feel free to wait till then

Strangely enough, he was already looking before the last order. Why did he not buy from TI for "1,200"?

When I sold my first folder for 2,200 with 4 mags, the market was hot and it was reasonable. I sold 2 more red ones for 1,500 and 1,450. Whatever the market is, that's what they go for as you correctly pointed out.

Who knows if the price stays at 1,200 (plus tax and shipping of course) from China anyways.

who knows but him. maybe he wants to pay $1200 net and not pay tax and shipping. like alot of lmg at the time, they were selling below $1500 msrp on ee. i counted 11 and now there is 4.

Updated 1913/Picatinny rail from TNA, https://www.instagram.com/p/CcQ-zrILCFO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link. The rail appears less high then on the earlier picture. The picture also shows a 3D printed Zhukov adapter, so the Zhukov itself no longer needs to be dremelled. Presumably the adapter may also work with similar AK stocks. If the rail height is still too high for people, you can either buy or 3D print cheek risers for the Zhukov stock.

I don't know. Probably good to ask TNA directly. It may not be needed; the Fox Strap VZ stock to Type 81 adapter is 3D printed, and so far no one has reported an failure. If the majority of the stock's tang is supported by the trunion, with the bracket there just to keep things square, the polymer adapter may work well enough as is. By comparison, a fellow on Reddit who made a limited run of aluminum 1913 stock adapters for the T81 said polymer would not work in that case; a polymer rail would have all the weight hanging on the rail directly, and would not take that abuse long term.

i generally view anything made of plastic will eventually deteriorate in time, sped up with temperature swings and recoils. thats why i prefer aluminum.

It was only matter of time haha ! Wonder if they incorporated a retention method into its design yo hold it securely from flipping back and forth between safe and fire... or if it just relies on friction and the minor angle cut in the cam....

Hi there sorry for the late reply

Thank you! I stripped it by sanding along the grain with 80 grit sand paper. Using good brand name sand paper helps so much.
I then smoothed it out with 150,320,600 and then stained with 1 coat of varathane espresso, and then 4 coats of Minwax red mahogany. Then used a high gloss wipe on poly by Minwax. Sanded with 600 between coats to get ultra smooth finish.

I was so happy there was some decent grain underneath that was being hidden by that red paint lol

Finally (almost) finished, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I just have to swap the optic-ready pins out for the normal set and install the left-side 90-degree safety tomorrow.
