I just bought my first pistol a few weeks ago and received a "Transfer Notification " from the CFO on Thursday. Is thus all I need to pick up the pistol and take it home or do I need a separate ATT? I tried calling the CFO office to ask them but couldn't get through. Thanks advance.

In Alberta you can pick it up as your RPAL conditions allow you to pick up a restricted at point of purchase or delivery company.
Legal for you to pick it up a bring home. Can’t take it to the range until you have the registration paper.

Your Special Conditions might say something like:
Transport of a newly acquired restricted firearms and/or prohibited firearms from the place of acquisition to the license holder's dwelling house or other place authorized by the chief firearms officer.
If so, you are good to go.
