Hi All,

I have deprimed and wet tumbled a bunch of brass. Is there a recommended way to store until it is reloaded? Airtight container with silica pacs or just in a bin? Currently have them in reloading trays open to the air.

Thanks
Chris

I use the MTM ammunition boxes to store my brass. Rifle brass usually gets cleaned and prepared for the next loading and goes back in its box. Some of my pistol brass does get stored in plastic screw jars due to the amount, 5000 to 10000. I like having stuff sealed so they don’t collect dust and dirt.

I have a lot of brass sorted in freezer bags - seems to be a cheap way to keep them clean. I suspect that sealing out air and moisture helps keep them shiny, if that is important to you. I mostly needed a way to keep dust and grit off - so typical 50 or 100 cases in a bag - I also put a card in the bag to say what it is - have many bags that external jiffy marker markings have wiped or smeared away.

Once the brass has dried after your wet tumble, store them any which way (but loose). I've used ziploc baggies, plastic pails/tubs, metal ammo cans and coffee cans. What ever you have on hand that the brass will fit in, will work.

OP - you said "a bunch of brass" - some guys think that might be 50, or 500 or 5,000 pieces - goes to what is reasonable and economical to use. Also, how long until you will want to use them?? - next week, next year, 20 years from now? - again might influence what is appropriate storage.

Hi All, thanks for responses and definitely a variety of choices! Currently just getting to reload one caliber (6.5CM) and have maybe 200 pieces of brass. I like the idea of the clear plastic stackable boxes, will keep my out out some some.

Take care,
Chris

I do the exact same. Card can indicate all sorts of details about how the brass has been prepped (and number of firings, etc.), and the bags just keep getting reused.
