Berger bullets for hunting

Suther- I'm not sure what the grains are but

Varget, 2613 fps, berger 168 hvld, 24 inch barrel, and I am at 2.975 I believe for COAL. I modified the factory RAR mag to fit 2 rounds loaded long. I would rather use my rifle as a single shot then ram the bullet into the case. I would probably loose a bunch of fps if I loaded at SAAMI.
 
I will post my load when I get home. I did deprime last night, and only 2x had loose pockets out of 50.

But out of the 10 strings, 7 of them had flat primers so 35x. I was definitely not on the ball when I inspected the cases. I will post my loads, but I hope everyone can use it to not do what I did. I couldn't find any info online on the combination of components I used so I guessed. Very dangerous I know.

Ahhhh now your numbers make more sense. I'm limited by the factory magazine on my Rem 700, and so I stick to 140s in my rifle.

At a starting velocity of 2600+ the 168VLD still has 1500ft/lb at 500? Very interesting. One of these days I want to work up a longer-range load for this rifle for target purposes, something like that would be perfect...

Thats exactly what I'm working with next. Picked up 3 boxes of partitions when I couldn't get more 140gr fusion bullets. Hoping to hit 2900+ as well, although mine isn't an AI.

Are you using a standard magazine box in yours Dan?
 
I do want to try 140s. I'll keep my eye out for em. Probably in 5 years when all the reloading stuff is back in stock...

My charges were from 40gn to 44.5gn.
Safe charges were 40, 40.5, and 41.
Everything above was too hot.
 
139 GMX, CFE223, Kimber Ascent 7-08, 2968 fps over the Magneto Speed yesterday...seems high so will have to retest this one??

No, I modified it a tad to allow a longer coal. I did the same with my 284 built on a 600 as well. - dan
