Varget at Cabelas

8 pounds for $649.99 slap on taxes (13%) = $734.49 No thank you

I can use the money for more important things than shooting am slowly tapping out of the game

Yup, thats a mortgage payment right there.....
Not tapping out as I never really tapped in.
I'm hunting still and will for as long as I can maintain my license requirements.
I dont begrudge those who can afford the absurd prices, but will chuckle at those who finance their obsession with sezzle or other payday loans, lol.

With stupid reloading components price, this is killing reloading and shooting. The industry is doing to itself what the Lib are trying to do, reduce number of shooters/ gun owners.
If you cannot afford to shoot, no need for guns.

These prices are making it hard to choose! After taxes your almost 100$ a pound! Thankfully I reload to hunt and not to target practice or this wouldn’t be affordable!

Must be "old stock" of 1lb's and "new stock" of 4lb's

That makes sense for sure.
The varget is sold out quick every time so both have to be new stock so how on earth it’s cheaper to individually package and fill 8 separate lbs vs one big doesn’t make sense.. I’m sure cabelas still pays a lot less for the big jug but know the demand so price accordingly.

Well, if guys are not going to purchase or cease reloading, prices may decrease.............I guess just a pipe dream.

I see Budget has Varget and H4350 in stock $120/lb.

It's getting ridiculous, I was balking at $65/lb, but paid it, last fall!
Can't justify paying today's prices. Will load until what I have is gone, and hope that it might return to "normal" some day.

Crappy Tire in Cranbrook had CCI-250's a couple months ago. Wanted $120/1000.
I figured stuff was finally coming back again, so like a moron didn't buy them.

Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.

Sam

$735 all in for 8 pounds of Varget certainly a frozen kick in the nuts!
The way things are going with component availability it will still be gone quickly though.

Hell, I prepaid for 2,500 Sierra projectile at the beginning of October.
Through no fault of my favoured Canadian supplier, that was long enough ago that by the time they get here it will almost feel like they are free to me LOL.
My current inventory ought to get me through the upcoming F Class season, but when these arrive I just might order some more (for the season after next) !

I agree

Cheaper to buy factory ammo

If you are finding this, you are likely looking at old stocks of ammo.
I was in Cabela's in Calgary the other day and whereas 20 rounds of 55gr. Winchester .223 'white box' was ~$10 a box not too long ago (two years?), it is now $30

Supply is extremely limited to non-existent in some cases, and demand for both components and ammunition is in large demand.

Obama was a warning. I stocked up when things came back after the Obama shortages. Just bought some trap loads, after payday this thursday will buy another hundred or two. Still $45/100 which isn't bad. I'm sure prices will only go up by fall

I didn't like the price increase from $69 to $80 for 1 lb of Varget at Cabelas but the local shops in Vancity haven't seen Varget in their stores for 2 years now. They tell me "if you see it, buy it because I can't get it and don't know when we'll get it. It might be another year." So I don't know if I should jump for joy that I was able to even buy it or cry because of the new higher prices.

I balked at buying H4350 for my 6.5CM because all they had was the 8 lb jug for $650. Now it's gone so I'm kicking myself...

The next Vihtavuori shipment should be arriving at some point soon. Unless the price changes drastically, VV is now cheaper than Hodgdon.
