Hello everyone

I suspect this question was already asked, but here i am hoping to get some insight.

My budget is $1500 all in, and that includes the scope, scope accessories and the rings. What would you put on this rifle if you were in my shoes?

Edited to add: looking to get into target shooting, possibly SHTF scenarios for those of us that are into survivalist world ending scenarios.

While that will work, I would suggest a level or two up. I have the BTR gen 2 4.5-27x50. It tracks very good, holds zero very good, I do wish the eye box was bigger and that the glass was brighter and clearer. Used it up to 1040 yards. For myself, I would go up to the ETR. ( from my BTR ) I would like to even go to the Chronos but my money tree is not really growing lol.

Wait for the Arken EP5 5-25 to arrive, everything you need would be about 1100 more or less.

As you are in GTA, you won't have much option to shoot over 300 unless you don't mind to travel 3-4 hours each way to find crown land.

For the money, the MDT rings are quite interesting. They have a more basic model (Premier) and a higher end model (Elite) with included bubble level and single cross bolt. They also have a single piece mount if you prefer. All MDT rings are designed so that you fully tighten the cap screws on one side and torque only the other side, meaning no fussing around to have the cap straight. Very happy with the Elite.

I am also happy with my MDT Elite rings. The bubble level is hard to see when shooting, so I use it for leveling the rifle in the vice when mounting the scope. I have another bubble level on the scope that I can see when on the rifle.

I've heard and read good things about Arken EP5 from people that had the EP4 and upgraded. Not sure what the waiting list would be for it, but the price is very attractive. How do you think it compares with Athlon lineup in the similar price range?

There is supposedly a range near our cottage, as my friend on here told me. I don't plan on shooting past 1km personally, so anything 500 m to 1000 m is perfect, and its about 1 hour and 40 min drive.

I just picked up a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor for long range target shooting. I decided on a Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50 MRAD on sale a Bass Pro/Cabela's for $1199 from $1599. Great value for what I think is a great scope.

I've got my eye on the same scope. I'm not intending to buy quite yet, just bookmarking some options, and thus far this one is at the top of my list. Post back on how you like it in the field!

Smoking deal.

Grabbed one for my .22 PRS rifle.

It sure was... WAS being the operative term, as it's back to regular price now. I thought I'd pick one up for my Ruger Precision Rimfire as well (for practice/plinking) so that I can develop muscle memory doing scope adjustments on the the same scope type whether shooting 17HMR in the RPRm or 6.5CM in the RPR.

for a shtf scenario nothing beat a 308 ...or a 30-06 or a 303.

The one on sell for 1199 was sfp I believe.
The original price was 1399.
I never got excited with cabelas, their price is usually 10-20% inflated to start with

There were a couple of different models on sale for $1199. It was the regular price that differentiated the two. You're correct that one was regular $1399. I don't remember exactly which one it was but the PST was also on sale for $1199 but was $1599 regular. It's a FFP 5-25x50 Viper.
