That wood should finish up looking nice, but I would suggest cutting off that fore end tip right behind the white line spacer to eliminate it and then either epoxy the black plastic tip back on or putting a piece of real ebony on. That white line spacer screams 1970's. They looked tacky then and are even worse now. Also put the butt plate or what ever you choose on the butt NOW before you round the crisp butt edge or chip it. Nothing looks more Bubba armature than a rounded off or damaged butt end because someone refinished the stock with the butt plate off, buggered it up and then stuck the butt plate on last.
One last suggestion, it is hard to see in the photo what the stock reinforcement plug is made of, wood or metal. If wood give some though to drilling it down a 1/4" on either side and epoxy an ebony plug in each hole, it will then match the fore end and look a little more elegant.
