6 Dead, Dying, and Soon To Be Obsolete Handgun Cartridges

I kinda like my 40's. Just bought another one the other day. Ammo is still relatively plentiful and it shoots just like they say... between a 9 and a 45.

I have an all steel Jericho in .40; great gun, but I don't shoot it or my other semi-autos as much now, (sick of chasing brass) and shoot revolver a lot more.

41 Mag

Thankfully, the .41 Magnum still has a bit of a cult following....

Obselte does not mean useless. During early post Katrina, from Biloxi to Houston, any gunshop with any kind if decent inventory quickly sold out 9mm,40 Smith and 223.
12 gauge too.

But if you were in line for 38,357,357 Sig, 45 auto you were going to fill your order.
Gun shops also said federal cops sometimes would appear and jump the line for over the counter ammo.
But the feds were told by the higher ups, to leave the 12 gauge alone for locals.

That right there is an excellent reason for NOT having a streamlined collection. I’m amazed 45 acp was still available.

I may be mistaken but the .32 is not prohibited if it is chambered in a target pistol eg; walther ,Pardini. My bullseye centre fire pistol walther GSP is .32 S&w long and there are pardini sport pistols in .32 acp listed for sale in Canada.

As Battlerife stated there are no .32 ACP's on the exemption list; they are all .32 S&W Long.

I tried to purchase a Pardini .32 ACP from Western Marksman and the business owner told me they cannot register them in Canada. Even though they are advertised on their website.

Yup! The 41 Mag is yesterday's news.
I'll do everyone a favor and take all that useless ammo off your hands.

People seem to think that the 32 ammo is prohibited, not the case, thee gun that uses the ammo is prohibited, with the target guns listed ( could did the list out, if some one wants it)
exempt for bullseye shooting. I don't think 32 rim, or rimless is stated in the act, but would have to did it out again to look.

Re The PPK , Russians never had it. The US army was there first and some solder picted it up and brought to the US.
Later Mr. Wright bought it from a US collector, He had a large German collection.
The collection was offered to the city when he passed, I am told and the city could not be bothered, Too much work? Value would be millions.
The city could have had it cheap.
So that pistol was sold , back to a US collector, And the collection was sold off
It was gold plated , engraved, at one time I seen the serial #, but forget, no question about the ownership of the gun .

I haven't gotten into competition sports yet. Does 40 still get you into major while 9mm only gets you to minor? That alone sounds like it would be reason enough for the 40 to stick around if so?

That depends on the discipline, but in IPSC Production division (the most popular) only minor exists and it's basically all 9mm. If you shoot Open then you're allowed to overcharge 9mm and declare major. In Classic 9mm is minor and I believe 40cal with suitable power factor is major. However 40cal has a snappy recoil and isn't as nice to shoot, and with police departments moving away from it may not be as cheap and plentiful in future. But there will always be shooters looking for that niche where they can just make major!

I used it for my M84 Skorpian.

This list should have the .357sig on it. Although a couple state police use it down south I think.

I used to shoot lots of different pistol calibers. Now just shoot .22 and 9mm for simplicity and cost. If I ever want something bigger I'll add back back 10mm or .44mag.

And here I just picked up a 30 Herrett pistol.

Some of those wouldn't be obsolete for target, or plinking. I don't think 40 S&W is going any where in the target world.
