The .270 Win club, are you in?

Do you have a story about the "accident "?. Enjoy the 270. Loading up another 50 rounds now

Didn't need another rifle, didn't want to get anything in another calibre that I wouldn't use for anything I couldn't already do well enough with .303British or .243Win. Just thought it was going so cheap I could pass on a good deal to someone. It's been in the EE since, only one case of seemingly genuine interest but no result. I had a scope in the cabinet that had been nagging me for a long time to buy it a rifle and now they're teamed up and going out for moose this weekend, threatening to to take a real bite out of my Lee Enfields' shooting and hunting time.

Well thanks for the story. Good luck this weekend

Savage 110 Trophy in wood stock. Topped with a Bushnell Elite 3-9x40.

Me and two buddies got into hunting all at the same time. They both went 30-06 and in this gun the option was 30-06 or 270 so I went 270 to be different. Initially wanted 308 but it wasn't an option.

Well shoot, never thought I’d own a 270.
Already have a 280 and a 30.06.
Bought the 270 to spin the barrel off and swap on 257Roberts barrel, but now not quite sure if I’m going to do that, still thinking about it though, for some unexplainable reason I have a soft spot for the Roberts.
Decided to shoot a few rounds out of it while it is still a 270, and humm? 130 grain at 3050fps, humm?

So for now, I think I’ll play with the 270, just because.
The rifle is one of my favourites, yes, I like the Ruger American rifles, especially the all weather models.
Hence why I wanted to switch it over to a 257Roberts, a long action for seating out the bullets a bit better than a short action could do for the 57mm case, plus in a 6lbs stainless Ruger configuration.

For now it is in its factory form, 270Win, I placed a VX-II 3-9x40 with plain old duplex that was sitting around, but I really like the Redfield Revolution Accurange reticle, so I’m going to try a Leupold SABR reticle since it is very similar to the Accurange reticle and see how well it will do, just because why not.

My friend and neighbor bought a Savage 116 in 270 as his first hunting rifle last year, he asked me to help him sight it in, so I took a couple of shots to get it started for him.
The first time I had ever shot a 270, my first thought after the first shot, “um, what recoil “ 130 grain.
Second thought, “this might be pleasant shooting fun”
And here I am with a 270 Winchester, Dies, brass, and an array of different bullets to try.

Had a Husqvarna model 3000 that I decided to part with. Then a while back, for a bit of a novelty,:) I replaced it with another 270. A Weatherby Vanguard S2 Blaze and now have another to match it but in 300 Win Mag. Call them my ;) 'flame throwers' and picked up both from a couple of site members.

Yeah, I have two, both Husqvarnas, a 1952 FN action model and a 1957 4100 lightweight.

Both gifts. Lucky me.

Got 2 late in life. Sure like the price and availability of factory .270 ammo. Got me a prewar Winchester m70 short rifle and a miroku built 1895. Both have peep sights installed. Rod henrickson did a great job drilling the 1895 for the FP-71 sight…

I have owned a couple of REALLY NICE rifles in 270 Wincheester.
The first was a 1947 all stock with a special order with a Lyman All Ameican 4X in QD mounts. it had 1/2 box of ammo through it!
Excellent shooter, the stock kicked the crap outta me !
Traded it for something I liked better.

The second was a Ruger #1 with fantastc aftermarket wood with oak leaf carving and an after market barrel.
The rifle shot everything from Barnes to Seirras super.
Killed a few deer with it and sold it without regret.
The only reason I would look at a 270 right now is for the action.. Can't explain it, love 264's, and 280's, but the 277 is not in my wheel house!

I'm not a big 270 fan but freely admit that there really isn't many chamberings that have bettered it since it's inception. It just gets better with new powders and bullets.
