Bartlein v. Krieger

I have owned lots of Kriegers,The last two I have are exceptional as far as barrel life goes, one is close to 8,000 round count now and I recently shot shot 7 consecutive bulls at 800 meters with it.
Keith Cunningham chambered it many many years ago.
No exerpience with Bartleins however, but the people I talk to that own them like them......

Had 2 bartlein barrelled guns. Both shot great. Both had gain-twist barrels. No experience with krieger barrels but they have a great reputation. I know both barrel makers put out top-shelf products. Go with the one that can get you your barrel quickest in the specs you desire. Honestly, you cant go wrong with either.

where can a guy buy bartlein barrels in Canada? I'm intrigued
I doubt there's any meaningful difference between brands, or whether it was rifled cut or buttoned. Many other factors that would make a difference before either of those.
If you truly care about barrel life, then I would check out Bartleins new MOD400BB barrels. Supposed to have longer life than regular stainless barrels.
I don't think there is any real difference between Krieger and Bartlein. Both are well made although I felt the Kriegers were a little better finished inside. I have looked through more Kriegers than Bartleins. As far as life is concerned, I think cut rifled barrels might (emphasis on "might") exhibit a little better life but I can't back that up. It would take some serious testing to prove anything one way or the other and I have neither the time nor the money!
Over the past 45 years I have used more Shilen barrels than anything else. My best shooting barrels have all come from Hart but I have had Kriegers which were nearly as good. Currently, my best barrel is a Hart, second is a Shilen and third is a Swiss hammer forged barrel. Not a lot to choose between any of them, really.

My Coyote has a Kreiger, my son's M40A1 (clone/tribute) will have a Bartlein...... Havent sont the first a lot, the other is not yet put together....
One question comes to mind Peter... I would assume people would come you you for those questions, not the other way around.....

Exceptionally high. Wouldn't surprise me if they got bars from the same batches.
I've had/have a few Kriegers and have only had 1 Bartlein (a .223). The Bartlein opened up from a solid <1/2moa gun to having a "flyer" every 10rds ish that would open it up to 1 moa around 7600 rds. The Krieger that went on as a replacement shot the same load to the same level of precision and has just done the same thing the Bartlein did at pretty much the same round count. I have a Hawkhill going on as a replacement this week. I also currently have 2x Krieger 6 Creedmoor barrels. 1 is over 2k rounds and although pulled from important match service, it still shoots the same load 1/2moa. The 2nd is my current match barrel that is around 1300 rds and will serve for matches till 2k or so at which point it will be replaced with either another Krieger or Hawkhill. I also have a Krieger on my 300NM and it is a <1/2moa hammer. As far as I'm concerned, Krieger, Bartlein and HH are interchangeable.

Kreiger..Bartlein and hawkhill are the main staples of what we run. Kreigers and Hawkhill being the majority are 4 groove vs the Bartlein 5R variety. All are accurate indeed. Hawkhill seem to be less of a speed increase in general upon the barrel being seasoned up and clean up extremely fast for me. All are great choices IMO. Only thing that would hurt any of those 3 barrels accuracy is the work being done to them.
We received this from a manufacturer in response to our asking if there is evidence that cut-rifled barrels last longer than button barrels. Our experience is similar:

Very interesting. And for those of us who aren't well versed in these things, who uses a button and who cuts?
There are to many variables involved to make it a simple answer, all things being equal a Button barrel or cut rifle barrel of the same lot of material , equal land /groove ratio configuration and internal dimensions will have the same life span, after that much of it depends on how the barrel is maintained by the shooter , both will work and be competitive if done correctly

A shooter shouldn't notice the difference between a quality cut and buttoned rifle.
The process of a buttoned barreled leaves more potential for issues, but there are great shooting buttoned and cut rifled barrels out there.
