Need a recommendation on a bullet puller that could handle 3-400 rounds in a descent amount of time.

An acquaintance graciously gave me 300-400 rounds of reloaded 9mm. He stated that he’s getting too old to enjoy the pistol sport and his health is starting to get a bit worst.

Here is the catch. He can’t remember what powder he used and how much. Now all of these have been thrown into a container with no label other then 115 gr

I have a hammer style puller but that is slow. Any options out there that is a bit faster?

If you want to reuse the bullets; hammer/inertial type; if you are going to pitch the bullets; collet or pliers type.

I have the hammer-type, and the collet type. Both work well. I have collets for my major reloads, and use hammer for the rest. The hammer is Frankford, and I smashvit into the concrete floor. Must be hundreds if strikes, no damage.

get a 9mm insert for your 12 ga single shot and shoot em up its a hoot you will be surprised at how accurate they are ....better yet borrow one and let the lender pound a bunch out ....a bowling pin at 100 yds CAN BE HIT just an idea done it lots

I've had great success with the RCBS bullet puller, with collets for about 8 different calibers. Nine-point-five (9.5) times out of ten, I can recover bullets without any damage to them, therefore can be reused......generally for shooting at gongs at long distance, sometimes for load development.

You can pull the bullets using collet puller without damaging the bullets even if they are crimped or otherwise well in place. If the collet begins to slip without lots of tightening then pull it and clean it, wipe the relevant portion of the bullet as well. I doubt you'll have issues with reloaded 9mm.

I pulled well over 20,000 rounds of "scrap" ammo relatively quickly a few years ago. Everything from .22 Hornet to .338 WM. I'm still using some of the bullets and powder... Inertia pullers can make a mess and get pretty irritating quickly.

I prefer the FA piledriver, it is very loud, but won't mark the bullets and is very easy to use. I have used the inertia type hammers before and the collet style. For me the FA piledriver works best...... good luck.

I would recommend the RCBS collet puller. I works well for me ,the exception being bullets coated with HBN ( Hexagonal Boron Nitrate)
that are to slippery to grip.

Has the OP heard of the Grip N Pull? I haven't tried it, I've only used a hammer type puller, but it looks pretty slick:

You can also make your own by modifying a pair of wire strippers.

I also wouldn't be too concerned about damaging the bullets unless you're trying to make particularly accurate loads - for plinking purposes a bit of damage on the bullet from a collet puller isn't going to make a big difference.

It will pull bullets that you can't get out with a collet puller. Small piece of foam in the bottom of the piece the bullet ends up in will prevent damage to the tips (same with inertia pullers). - dan

Oh? Interesting. I have a few bags of leftovers from my big project. SWC and other profiles that the collet just won't grab. Inertia pullers just break before they budge as well. I will have to look into the FA unit some more...

looks like after watching the video of the FA puller I going to get one, does it come complete with a carrier or do you buy them separately, where is the place to buy from other than Amazon
