My three year reduced odds for moose draws are up but with this fuel price jump I'm having serious 2nd thoughts about applying for a moose LEH this year.
I might just hunt deer for one or two trips within three or four hours drive of home compared to two days away in Region 6 or 5. Besides, my wife has drastically reduced her red meat consumption. One small portion out of the freezer lasts us two or three days. I still have more than half a blacktail and numerous ducks and geese in the feezer and the supply is not dwindling very fast.
If my buddy still really really wants to go I may agree, but only with his vehicle. I'm not driving mine to Vanderhoof and beyond.
I love moose hunting, but like I said, I'm having reservations. It's not just the money, there are practical reason too. I don't know what I'd do with half a moose.
It is all contingent on getting an LEH draw anyway and despite being back to normal odds, it still might be tough to get drawn.
What about you guys?
