I am getting pretty good at guessing the prices of firearms in the EE before I read all of the ad, but I am not familiar with Colts.. .. other than they seem to have some mystique about them.

I am aware of the history, and the whole 1911 'thing', but don't quite get it.

Any idea what a circa 1990, Colt Combat Elite (blue) in .45 is worth.
4,000 rounds of lead through it.
90%+ condition given its usage.

$750 - $850 if in the original box with the original papers & Colt factory magazine. IIRC they came with a stainless Colt magazine. If it hasn't otherwise been dicked with.

I have one brand new in the box and unfired. How much is my Combat Elite worth?

Colt Combat Elite

Other than the Delta 10mm and the Gold Cup National Match the Combat Elite was the only other full size Colt Series 80 that I owned. It looked cool but I didn't find it particularly more accurate than any other 1911 I've owned. In fact the new Norc compact I have would shoot circles around it right outta the box...

I once paid $1000 for a NIB one and sold it in mint condition for $800. It wasn't any more accurate than many of my Commanders I've had. That could be me though.;)

I read in a gun magazine that you have to break it in with a least 500 rounds before it will be accurate.
