Henry Garden Gun

OK, so it must be just a "gun fever" thing...because even when I stretch the rationale/excuses to buy as far as I can, I wonder how many shots I'd take before wondering if it was a good use of $610+. I could see it being a collector one day.

Anyhow, I really like what Henry did with this stock set made of ASH...it's nearly 1/2 the appeal. Handsome gun, but such limited range/purpose..

Anybody have one? Done any pesting with it? Honest/effective range...and on what?

I have one and I patterned it on paper. IIRC it was a 6” spread at about 10-15 yards.

CCI bird shot doesn’t feed well as the plastic capsule hangs up. Sometimes gets mangled. Use the crimped 22lr shot.

Ash furniture is real nice and it’s a Henry.

This is correct. Has its "up close" usefulness around my compound, at sub 15yds.

Never handled the Henry but growing up I fired thousands of bird shot rounds at flying grasshoppers great fun and will really ncrease your low gun speed

I've got a garden gun in 9mm Flobert rimfire. It's got enough jam to destroy pretty much any varmint at 50 yards and have taken pigeons inside the barn without doing any damage using birdshot. Great acreage gun for sure.

That’s exactly what I was thinking it would be good for.
I use to use a 410 loaded with corse road salt for inside the barn when I use to shoot stuff on a dairy farm as a kid.

I've had pitiful results with .22 shot so I always dismissed it as a novelty.

The "Garden Gun" is an interesting concept if you're looking for something unique, but I think something like #8 shot from a .410 would be more practical.

I use the crimped .22 bird shot effectively on squirrels & chipmonks around the house
within 10 yds out of a smoothbore Cooey model 75. Works great . It has the Fred R.
