Almost 20% of those eligible chose to exercise their right to vote. Not exactly a mandate for those elected.

Why did some 80% choose not to vote??

Why did two highly dedicated directors choose not to run??

Is there or should there be a limit on the number of consecutive terms for anyone elected to the IPSC Ontario Board of Directors??

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Like most clubs or associations, I believe the answer you're going to get is Apathy.

What were the percentages the last few times you guys held an election?

From what I can remember...

In 2003 (before I was on the the board) I acted as the election chairman. I don't remember the exact number of ballots but in was around 250. (we had 900 members at the time) It may have actually been 2002...I can't remember

In the 4 years since then participation has been about the same (in or around the low 200's) In two of the past 4 years...the elections were decided by acclimation.

Last year (for the 2006 board) there was one position and one candidate .In 2004 (for the 2005 board) there were 3 positions...and only 2 ran.

Since I joined IPSC in 2000, there have been 4 years where the election was decided by acclimation. Pretty sad

I would expect to see the participation level at about 40%...and we tend to get about half of that.

Apathy sound about right. More people seem interetsed after the fact.

Cheers

guys, please let it go..let us learn from this and move on, there is no need to discus it any further, s**t happens. I am sure that new board will address the issue at hand and things will be different in the future. Just because I am no longer on the board this does not mean I will not be helping to grow IPSC Ontario.

To help Josko and Quigley out here, I'll lock this.

Stormbringer and I don't always agree but I really do respect what he has to say, so after thoughtful and inciteful converstation with Stormbringer - who was absolutely correct in what he had to say - I have reopened this thread.

Thanks Storm.

Lately, there has been too much locking going around here concerning IPSC . If no one is really bashing, why not let the opinions roll.
