I'm far less worried about weight than I am about accuracy. This will primarily be a bench gun. Occasionally looking for Wylie coyote. Fur accuracy, I demand sub 1/2moa. I dream of closer to 1/4moa (yes, I know that's a stretch).
Wood, eh? Care to share some brands that you suggest?
The laminates I like are the bench style stocks that Boyds put out, and similar. I have owned severall by small shop gunsmiths, and all were fantastic.
The grey one here is a Savage, I beleive it is supplied by Boyds for them.

This one was built by Jim Dugan IIRC, fewer laminations but very stable
