Soemone told me that you can use 10 round magazines in an ar-15. I've never heard of this before, I only thought it maxed at 5 rounds.

any shread of truth to this?

I guess he could have meant pinned 10 round magazines, but I just want to be sure.

You can't use just any magazine and "pin" it to 10 rounds and put it in your AR... that won't be legal... but there is a "APPROVED" magazine that is legal for 10 round capacity and that will fit and can be used in AR pistols and AR rifles.

We spent over a year getting a design that the RCMP/CFC reviewed and approved as a "10 Round Magazine"... since the magazine we had manufactured was designed and manufactured for use in a semi-auto handgun. As an approved 10 round magazine, that specific magazine can then be used in any firearm, legally.

The magazine is imported and distributed by Questar (made by CProducts) and there are literally thousands of them being used and enjoyed by shooters across the country.

I have printed out the items regarding the CX4 using pistol mags and have that in my shooting bag as well. Not really required, but after some discussions at the range and some people who seen uncertain about it, I just have it to show anyone who wants/needs to know.

just to be sure you don't need a restricted license for that magazine correct? (assuming it's being used in a non-restricted rifle)

Not yet, but I'm just learning what I can and within the next year I'm going to make a decision and settle in with a semi .223. Since I just learned this piece of information, anything that accepts those 10 round magazines is a definate influence in my purchase.
 
There are a few options for non restricted .223 that take AR mags now. I'm going to be picking up 5 more of the 10 rounders asap. Good stuff.
 
I'm enjoying the ones I bought. The only caveat is your range's policy. Some have restrictions on how many rounds you can put into your magazine. :mad:
 
Of course it has to be mentioned that if you plan to hunt then the regs for hunting take precedent over any other rules concerning mag capacity.
