.223 Shortage?

.223 shortage due to military demand, increased prices..that's bs and just them setting up for more gouging.
What military uses .223 in their rifles? none that I've heard of..

Heres a couple more I've heard:

" They're using the .223 machines to make 5.56"

No,5.56 has a thicker case and would require a totally different set of dies to stamp out the cases. They'd buy more presses or change over ones running less popular/less profitable cartridges first if they needed to ramp up production.

"Lead shortage"

BS,I've never seen so many bricks of new production 22lr on the shelves,And China has so much of it they use it as filler in paints and plastics.

The only shortage i might be talked into believing would be on primers

Just bought a brick of American Eagle from Reliable in Vanc-they were willing to match the Lever Arms sale price and had no trouble getting bullets and primers since. Brass is soooooo easy to get and cheap. I have over 1000 empty cases soon to be loaded and a whack of bullets to push in. Also lots of bits on the EE, some good deals. Nah not here anyways.

what is the "sale" price at level? (site says 225?) and what was the reg pice at reliable??

I bought AE for $185 in van a few months ago. I was told a year ago it was around $130. prices are going nuts.

Look for factory ammo in all calibers from all suppliers to take another big hike in the next couple of months, and look for all reloading componants to take an even bigger jump in less time than that. I'm stocking up big time on brass, powder, and bullets for all the calibers that I reload for, as these sky rocketing increases in pricing in the last 3 years show no sign of letting up. FS

There is no shortage.
It's a game.
It's on the back shelf....why would they sell it now for $200/500...wait a few weeks sell it for $225/500.

Then tell you they can't get any again......it's all gone...

But then luckily, they managed to get some more in....just for you...but it's $250/500 now...(They same stuff they had a couple months ago, but just hid it)

Then they are out of stock...the whole country. Major terror in the world.

A few weeks later...BEHOLD... a small shipment made it through...but it's $275/500... (pst..it's the same stuff they had on the back shelf 3 months ago)

I have been getting so many calls and email from this thread. Maybe I should raise the price and buy that villa in Mexico I have been wanting. I am also excepting bribes. ;)

Its not BS because every place I checked locally had nothing in stock and orders not being filled. I've never had to purchase ammo out of province except for JHP's in certain handgun calibers.

Thanks for the links, email for shipping quotes.

Dude, you live in Nova Scotia - get real - get use to it. This thread is BS. The only reason you're not seeing much of it around is because most retailers only stock up before hunting season and don't order much after that.

Who ever is telling you there's a shortage because of the war better dig his head out of his arse. The manufacture of military ammo has absolutely nothing to do with commercial civilian sales. They should know better. Evidently they don't.

Since this thread is such BS and a waste of everyone's time, can a mod delete or lock it please?

Sorry to have waster your time 2bad4u2, really, sorry. :jerkit:

Who is the manufactures of military ammo then?

I believe so.
It mentions that they've quadrupled their production over the last 4 years
They produced 1.3 billion rounds of small caliber ammunition in 2005(5.56,7.62,.50),not bad.
