How bad are the cheap 9mm pistols, not norinco, like the Turkish ones, etc.
Thinking of picking one up for my kids. What would be good for small hands, that doesn't have a horrible trigger?
I'm not a gun snob, and it's going to have to be cheap.

Canik tp9sa
There’s one listed on gun post NL for $450

For $400 ,nice sights, nice trigger, comes with usable holster you can’t go wrong.
And it’s not a Norinco.
Meets your specs.
I know it’s not all anglely and accurate like the Glock … lol

There’s a S&W SDVE on the EE for $395, The one I had felt like a solid piece, not the best trigger though, but it is small.
Glock 48 is small as well,
I have a Canik elite, it’s the smaller version of the original.

Define "cheap." Cost was a factor when I was purchasing my 9mm, so I set my budget at $1000 as I still wanted a reputable manufacturer and a quality firearm. Ended up with a Beretta APX and have been very happy with it. Was just over my budget but that included the holster, extra mags and competition belt. If you want cheap chinesium, you will get what you pay for, to each his own.

The Ruger P89s are decent rigs and not expensive. Now there is a DAO model and that one is a little stiff on the trigger. I actually had one and it wasn't awful but stiff trigger, I guess the was for the police so they wouldn't have accidental discharge. Some have a decocker as well.
