Well I did my hunting course and have been waiting for my license... But a friend who did it at the same time as me got his before me and I kept waiting. Well I finally called and got the usual run around until I finally hit the rightperson, and the reason I haven't gotten my license is?

Dint pass the test? Nope, not it.
Delayed for the holidays? Nope, not it either.

BECAUSE I NEVER DID THE NON-RESTRICTED COURSE! Makes perfect sense, except I have a non-restricted license and 33 guns:runaway: Turns out since I just challenged the test the people who make money from me doing the course wont release my paperwork to the government to issue the license. I now have to do the course and redo the test. All makes perfect sense!!:jerkit:

No way, that makes no sense. There are 4 copies of teh federal course report, one for the instructor, one for you, one for the instructor's governing body and one for CFC in Miramachi.

There are copies out there. When did you challenge the test?

That just doesn't sound right. Just fax them a copy of your PAL.

I think you need to talk to someone who has the power to fix this for you. Don't accept the first no from some jack-off phone operator, ask to speak to the supervisor.

The test isnt the problem, its the course. They dont like when you skip the course and just do the test. I did the test about 7 years ago.

How old were you? Minors can't challenge the test, but I know some that have. Is it possible thi sis the point? ( I know I am reachinga bit)

I challenged my non-restricted course, got the paperwork & have had NO problems... For any of it.

Is it the person you challenged the course with, that's withholding the paperwork? If that's the case, either rechallenge with an HONEST tester, or file a complaint with the CFC against the person for illegally withholding your paperwork.

Out of curiosity, what does doing an extra firearms course have to do with a hunting license course??? If you've done the restricted, you HAVE done the non-restricted by default haven't you??? That's my understanding of it... That the restricted just has a few restricted things, as well as the non-restricted bits.

I don't know how it works in your province, but in Ontario, when you pass the hunter ed test, you take a copy of the paperwork that you get from the tester down to the local MNR office and they give you a hunting license on the spot. I did my test on a Sunday afternoon and at 10am the next morning I had my license to hunt.

That doesn't sound right at all because the firearms course and pal are governed by the federal goverment and hunting liscenses are governed by provincial. So what your saying is that if I lived in Quebec and only wanted to archery hunt I would still have to do the federal firearms course in order to get my provincial hunting liscense. Also how do people under 19 get their hunting liscenses if they are obviously to young to take the firearms course???
Someone is giving you a line of bull.

Same with me, and I already had my PAL as well. The MNR gave me a temp licence then about 6-8 weeks later I got my actual card in the mail.

I remember reading this on this board a while back and when I said the same thing you just did yodave, the response I got was :"you need a gun to hunt don't ya, only makes sense?"

I think Quebec laws are different.

This is not your fault. Its the gov't and their lovely ways.

The person who you challenged through sent the paperwork in becasue you have your licence. If the licence expired its just a re-apply, not a re-course.

Just to be clear, are we talking about a provincial hunting licence or a Federal non-r PAL? Because one is not related to the other.

You don't even need a gun to hunt, so why would it matter?

Hunting regs word things such that if your out looking to take game, your hunting...a slingshot would count wouldn't it?

A crossbow doesn't require a pal..and you can hunt with it for sure. So why do you need your RPAL/PAL/POL at all??

exactly my point.

Move out west. A lot less of this BS goes on. I challenged both restricted and non at the same time and have had no issue since. Quebec sure seems to be full of ball busting bureaucraps. An adult in Sask. just has to show their health card for a hunting liscence with no questions or hassles. Minors have to go through the courses.

in ontario their is no difference between what weapons are used for hunting. if you use a slingshot to hunt grouse you need a small game liscence the same as if you were using a shotgun, or archery or a pellet rifle. as stated above this has nothing to do with rpal, pal or pol. you say you took a course to"hunt with a firearm" . it must be different in quebec, because here in ontario, archery equipment as are air rifles, classed as firearms for the purpose of hunting. must be encased 1/2 before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset. this sounds like the argument that you have to get your PAL before you can get a hunting liscence. thats nuts. you do not need a PAL to archery hunt or with an air rifle , provided the air rifle is under X feet per second.which test exactly did you challenge.

No hunter safety course before hand?
