Tens of millions of birds disappearing across North America

And housecat's

State of Michigan estimates feral cats kill 100 million song birds each year... in that state alone. Australlia had to introduce a species specific virus as a measure to control cats in wild areas as many species of birds and small mammals were on the brink of extinction from predation.

Yeah, I am on board with the cat shooting.......but to be a sporting guy about it I want to build a "cat launcher" which is essentially an air powered cannon with a barrel big enough to push the cat down. You yell "PULL" and your friend triggers the cannon while you get busy with a shotgun and try to hit the kitty arcing through the sky.

We still have songbirds here in BC, and judging from the amount of poop that winds up on my car, we have lots of them!

A major cause of the rapidly declining song bird population is the starling . They are a non-native introduced species and they kill every song bird they come across and take over nesting sites . House cats run a close second in the massacure and they are an introduced non-native species also. I used to enjoy sitting on the deck listening to the nesting song birds but nothing except starlings have been showing up for the last few years .

I never see many starlings in AB. Crows Magpies, Blackbirds, Cowbirds.
MAybe i'm looking in the wrong places?

That would be about 3 birds per second 24/7 now we know cats sleep about 18 hours a day... so that's a lot of feral cats ... or a lot of BS.

I hate friggin' starlings and cowbirds. They're like locusts, #### up everything and contribute almost nothing. They're a real problem for me as they're actually so bold as to try and steal dog kibble from the dog's as they eat in their kennels. If I don't stand by, they'll almost swarm, with #### going everywhere and the dogs drove nuts chasing them and defending their supper. Can't even shoot the pests down here and the starlings are notorious for nest take overs. We used to have lots of finches, chick-a-dees, woodpeckers and other birds vist the back yard feeders, but the starlings and the bluejays took over.
