lightweight scope and ringo combo for Model 70 Featherweight?

But I like S&K’s a lot. And if you call them they will send bases set up like the DD’s.

They LOOK Good - What's the TOTAL weight for bases and rings in 1 " and 30 mm if you know ? RJ

OP here. Pretty sure I've narrowed down my scope choice to either the Leupold VX Freedom 3-9 or 2-7. Both of these come in quite a bit cheaper than the 2.5-10. The Freedom series is also noticeably lighter than other scopes that I've cross shopped like the Vortex Diamondback.

Now I just need to figure out rings (1 inch).

if you can find a redfield revolution in 2-7 or 3-9 you will reduce your budget and still have great optics.

The 2.5-8 is one of the nicest looking scopes ever produced. They look really nice on a rifle. But to me they are a compromise.

It would be pretty hard to beat a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33 for what you are looking for. I have one on my .270 Featherweight and it is just right.

Yep. I’d go back to Weavers (SC troll bait there…) before using Talley LWs again.

Bait taken :) ..... I use both and have had good luck with both.

I would tend to put more faith in the Weavers, esp on a rifle that is going on a hunt away as it allows me to take a spare scope. I've used weavers on several med bore rifles up to 375magnum with no problems. The wheel is already round. :)

What is the compromise in your opinion?

I own three of them and do not feel like I have compromised anything for what I use those rifles for.

I put a lowly VXIII 2.5-8 on the nicest rifle I own and another on my long time fave 257Roberts. The 3rd is a spare for a future project.
