The Walther PDP SD Pro

Mid June now. Has the supplier let on that they will be delivering the product as promised in June it has it been pushed back again?

Spoke to the supplier yesterday, new ETA is July. This is very frustrating for us as well as you guys, it seems every time we call for an update it gets pushed back. We apologize for this but please understand we have no control over the import process on Walther firearms as we do not import them ourselves.

So from which random hat did you pull that date from?

The "freeze" on handguns is through a proposed change to the Firearms Act, as well as through a change in regulations under the Firearms Act. The change to the Firearms Act is in the early stages and will not pass until the late fall. However the change in the regulations can pass in two ways. First it can pass both the House SECU and the Senate SECU. This method is possible as late as June 30th (the date the Senate recesses for the summer). The second method is to let 30 sitting days of the House pass after the proposed change to the regulations is tabled. Since the proposed regulation was tabled on May 30th, it will take effect on October 4th at the latest based on the House calendar.

Based on the wording of the regulation, a CFO cannot issue a transfer after the date the regulation comes into effect. So if you do not have your transfer by October 4, you are out of luck. If the House/Senate SECU passes the regulation sometime in June, and you don't have your transfer, you are out of luck.

Go read the Legislation.....

Go read details of the respective House/Senate SECU...

Figure it out for yourself....

Or you can read this "random hat."

SECU committee meets every Tuesday and every Thursday (unless cancelled). The sitting calendar for this current session of parliament ends June 23rd and does not sit again until Sept 19-the SECU will be on summer hiatus for this period as well. Currently there is no tabled discussion on anything firearm related, the only topic scheduled for discussion is the continuing one on 'Rise of Ideologically Motivated Violent Extremism in Canada'. In regards to Bill C-21, it is still as of today in its second reading and has not progressed to the 'completed reading' phase. After the 2nd completed reading is done and approved it needs to go to a consideration committee (which would have to be fitted into the parliament schedule) how long these committees take varies greatly but in general they take around 4 weeks if there is enough political will to keep pushing them along. After the consideration committee, the bill has to be scheduled for its 3rd Parliament reading. After the 3rd reading is done and approved it goes to the Senate where there has to be 3 additional readings/discussions of the bill and then a final vote within the Senate on whether to approve the bill as is or to add/delete sections. Then the bill goes back to Parliament is scheduled for a general vote if approved the bill then goes immediately to the GG and receives royal assent and becomes law immediately. If Bill C-21 doesn't complete its second reading in the 7 sitting days before the summer break it will have to wait until after Sept 19 just to complete the second reading. Then the Liberals will have to get all the legislative steps (consideration committee, 3rd Parliament reading, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Senate readings and final approval vote in Parliament) by Dec 16/22 (54 sitting days) or the bill will have to wait til Jan 30 2023 when Parliament gets back from winter recess.

Seems like they’re on vacation most of the year lol . Good in this case but that’s money in the toilet generally speaking

I signed up for the PDP SD Pro pre-order, but just now said screw it and went ahead and pushed the 'order' button on the regular PDP which was showing as available on the site (at least I hope it's still there... the system took my money, but with the ephemeral nature of online inventory systems who knows if I'll be successful). Anyway, if there wasn't any urgency, then I would wait for the SD Pro arrival. The upgrades are worth a few months wait. However, I've decided the SD Pro isn't worth the gamble in wait time, seeing as how it's now or never with our current gov't. Can't risk not getting a PDP at all. So in the end, my calculus is to get the PDP that is available now (better a bird in hand...), and make my own tricked out DIY "semi-pro" with aftermarket upgrades. Their competition trigger, a nice matching mag well and backstrap, and I'll be good to go. I won't miss the threaded barrel (I think it looks better without it).

yup, good move given the situation

Is the "Batch 2" pre-orders estimated to arrive in summer or fall? Just trying to figure out if I should go with the PDP or take the risk and wait for the SD pro

We'll have more info soon.
