I see posts with guys from Ontario saying a day or two of trying to get through to initiate. Ontario being the highest population center, figured that would be the worst case scenario.
Recently purchased one from a fella in Alberta, wondering what the situation is like there as my seller has been trying all day every day with no luck. Is everyone else in the same boat or is he just super unlucky?

I know it'll be a waiting game once the information is entered, and I'm ok with the wait. Just curious if it's a case of luck or not.

I keep getting the "Please try again later" message. What app did you use Homesteader? And pardon my ignorance but what does 1-6-1 mean?

I downloaded an app called Burner, they have a 1 week free trial. Then you create a phone number and call through the app and it allows you to call earlier or later depending on the number you create. PS there are several apps that do the same thing, so I’m not plugging burner by any means but that’s the one I used.

1-6-1 is in reference to the prompts instead of the usual 1-4-2. I never tried the 1-6-1, but lots of guys said it works you just may have to call back because not everyone that answers that extension can do transfers.

Good luck and don’t give up

There limiting people to there own province.. need to hide your area code !!!!.. b.s. move
Was grilling jason in Ontario about this crap move they pulled on me today.. was pissed to find out.

1.. 4..2.. got me nowhere.. waste of time.

1.... 6..1 got me threw , but not all the c.f.o. staff doesn't restricted transfer in this section.. hit or miss.. I got lucky.
Got my transfer initiated.

Extension 1065 is garbage.. got the run around with all three nice ladies before I wanted to talk to the SENIOR member jason.

84 calls to get threw.. just a joke

I made 33 142 calls today, all hang up except for 1 , was in que for about 4 min then it hung up.
Got thru several time s on the 161, but was told that they could not help me, and put me thru to transfers which was the brief message and hang up. Was wished good luck and treated politely on the phone.

CFC should be 6am to 8pm est , none of this area code discrimination that overwhelms the system before we are even allowed to call in.

Good luck too all

In all reality, it should be an online form. Submit, have a code confirmation that you are the correct owner doing the submitting, references what you have based on what’s registered on your account, then instantly provides a transfer reference number to provide to the buyer. Then they are the only phone call for the CFO to screen.

^ Obviously they don't want to make it easy. Thanx again homesteader, will try again tomorrow, just trying to get my son grandfathered in case trudy's scheme goes through.

Did the 161 but they said they would only elp if I was calling from a business. She transferred my call and then I got the same old message about being busy and it hung up. Sure hope there is cell service where I go fishing.

1-6-1 worked for me, i explained to the amazingly nice woman that i had been trying for two weeks to get through with no answer. She was able to initiate the transfer for me. Be kind and they can sometimes help you.
Cheers,
RP

Just got transfer approval paperwork. 8 days and a call today for a welfare check on the transfer and they completed the transfer while I was on hold! Oh Happy day!!!!!!

PS, this was a private sale out of Quebec. My seller was nothing short of outstanding working to get us a reference number!!!

My browning hipower buyer got in 3rd ring.. !!! Wft to me 6 hrs 80+ CALLS ..

I wonder if phoning my MLA and chewing jason" Ottawa cfo" a strip of his back , got some fire lit under and azz's..
I was polite and to the point..

Eastern federal employees help all canadians, not just the people in there area code with initiating transfers..
The only thing the Alberta cfo does is approve the transfer...

No reason why I cant do my transfers at 530 am mountain time.
CFO wonder why there overwhelmed when 900 am rolls around.

Lack of common sense, OR , it done unopposed?? Wondering!

HOMESTEADER, YOU ROCK!

First try this morning. Good thing I was already getting up at 04:40 PST for work. Just woke up 15 mins earlier. Even though I connected at exactly 0900 in Newfoundland, still had to wait on hold for 18 minutes. But success!

That’s great news!

I just read this from IRG, something to note for all of us in Alberta.

So if you’re waiting on a seller to tell you the transfer is complete it sounds like they wouldn’t know unless they actually called in.

just make sure you tell the CFO you want the notification via email. Seller won’t have to tell you anything, you’ll know right away then can send the seller a screen shot of your TN so they can ship, even if they haven’t got their own notice, if they are waiting for it in the mail or something else archaic.
