I've been offered a Navy Luger. All matching, no accessories. It is at least 90%, absolutely untouched, a lovely pistol. What would be a fair market value?
No not stamps. Serials. You'd have to get verification of that through the Kriegsmarine doc's. They're on file in an old Archive in Germany, I think in Bremerhaven or Wilhelmshaven they could have been moved since the war though, but if the boat originally sailed or docked for supplies from a Soviet occupied area in Germany you'd probably have to go to Moscow.
But what if they didn't go down?
What if they were in some of the U-Boats that sailed for Australia Canada or South America for escapee's after the war was over?
I will have to find out if there are any markings; haven't seen the pistol for some time. Keep in mind that this is an old Luger. May have seen service during WW2, of course. I do not know when it came to Canada, but it could have been after WWI.
