Hi guys, Browning A-bolt Stainless Stalker(No Boss) vs. Tikka T3 Lite Stainless, which one is more accurate and reliable for hunting, I can't afford to get them both and I cant make up my mind.

I have both, and prefer the a-bolt.

Both have very very slick actions, both have models that are extremely light and both have short, fast bolt turns. Mine are all very very accurate, with excellent triggers

The browning is glass bedded, though, and generally just feels better to me. The finish and overall 'feel' is of a gun of much higher quality. And I really like the combination magazine. Makes loading and unloading the gun extremely fast, but without most of the usual disadvantages of a detachable box mag.

While everyone may not like how they feel / look, I think the Tikka is the better value. I don't like the triggers on the Brownings because they aren't easy to adjust. Either would make a decent hunting rifle though, but you could afford to spend more money on a good scope if you went with the Tikka.

the t3 is lighter, cheaper and will probably outshoot the browning. that said do you like the mag setup on the browning or drop out mag on the tikka. i have owned abolts and prefer the t3's. try holding the rifles and see which stock you like the fit of better. i would buy the t3 and spend the money difference on a good scope.

price difference wholesale sports
stainless stocker short action 949.00
t3 stainless lite 769.00
almost $200 more to spend on glass if you buy the t3

I have both and I like them both. Matter of fact a few each.

T3 - more accurate and less expensive – better value. However, $100-200 saving is not a show stopper for me.
Stainless Stalker - more solid and reliable IMO (not proven)

I am in the market now for an .308. In view of the fact that X-bolt is coming out, I have decided to wait and try it out.

i really dont like the tikkas. if you have an extra bit of cash consider something like the white gold medallion, really nice looking rifles that combine old and new world materials. i dont like ordering nice guns with cheap stocks, although admittedly the tupperware stocks are much more durable and practical.

extend that line of reasoning and he has $669 more to spend on glass if he buys a Stevens, and just as good accuracy. the tikka isnt a bad rifle but IMO at $770 it is tragically overpriced, and not in the same league as the A-bolts, 700s, M77s, etc.

tikka is synonymous with failure :)

How so?

I thought Browning was synonyms with Japanese overpriced gold triggered whats with that magazine bolt binding sushi?

$699 to spend on a new stock and to pay for your doctors bill after cutting your hand on the factory variant.

You absolutley right.....Tikka is not even close to being in there league :D

I guess the bottom line is to ignore what some random jerkwads on teh intreweb think, and try them yourself. There are a lot of t3 fanboi's on this site, and relatively few who think highly of the t3. Though judging by the rate I see rifles leaving the shelves at my favourite stores, I'd bet that there are far more t3 owners out there than a-bolt owners.

Gotta wonder how many folks make their mind up based on nothing more than the opinion of someone who's never owned (or maybe never even handled) both.

I know I did. There are a lot of folks out there who speak ill of the a-bolt, and I believed them until I picked one up off the EE. Now I can say that they're all full of #### :). Same with the T3's. Everyone raves about how great they are, so I bought one. Two, actually. Turns out they're nothing special. They're far from bad rifles - they're excellent - but nothing outstanding, it's not difficult to get a rifle as good or better for the same ballpark dollars.

A-Bolts are great, if you like gold triggers and somewhat dubious magazine and trigger systems. Otherwise, I really like them.

...... and YES, I have owned both. If fact I have owned the same A-Bolt for well over ten years.

.

the Tikka would be a fair deal at around $550-600 or so where the Savages are priced.

**edit
it was a joke, but i edited it out since senses of humor seem few and far between on a gun forum and i didnt want any of the Tikka owners to pop a blood vessel or something :)

i dont see much of a difference between the tikka, stevens, savage stocks. tupperware is tupperware, it all looks and feels equally crappy to me.

I do agree the the T3 Lite come equipped with ALOT of plastic. I think the walnut or laminated model would be a quite a bit more aesthetically pleasing. I would opt for one of them next time.
