Why is bear so underrated?

Most of the positive comments here seem to come from guys back east.

My experience eating it was a meh. Later on the rivers and going to the dump, seeing them eat puss bag salmon, and run off with a rolled up pampers.

Now on the mainland right here, some of the largest and most numerous black bear population in the country. A waste transfer station....all those magnum rifles......nah, I'm not eating diaper eaters. Leave it for someone else, like leaving the grouse coveys for 12 year Olds.......just not me.

Funny that sometimes the regional differences are sometimes missed.
Antelope is a good example...I'll eat it, lots won't though...gamey is what I hear.
4 point...8 point
Chasing deer with hounds, I'd likely have a brain aneurysm yelling at my dogs if they ran a deer. Not that it is that outlandish...we had greyhounds as a youth...coyote dogs. But we didn't eat the coyotes mind you.
My Uncle used to shoot a lot of bears in Edson...story was F & W had his number if they needed help. Nary a word about eating them...dump bears mind you, or he wouldn't have got a call, right?
Oh well...good hunting.

Sweet, thanks. More bears and grouse for the rest of us out there.

Meh. Never figured why bear was so Over Rated!

Between dumps and dead fish, which I can understand turning a fella off, most of the bear I have ate was either corn or Alfalfa fed, and I still could care less.

Just not my thing. Mostly just pests and vermin, around here. The ones that have been poking around my poultry, I left out for the Queen to come and get, but she never seems to care...

If they have food near by they will not venture far. Around here (Interior of BC) you don't have to go far out of town to find them. Even though I always hunt them in the spring and make sure I'm at least 10km out of town. I have not had a bad tasting bear yet by sticking to this.

You guys add anything to the burger mix or just straight ground bear?

Made these smash burgers last night with just straight ground bear. Guests crushed them!

Diaper eaters? I’m aware bears eat at dumps… but that’s why you don’t shoot your bear near a town. It’s easily avoidable.

The average hunter probably has no idea what trichinosis is.

Also, bears are "scary" to most and the season during late spring camping/fishing season.

You enjoy tilapia?
They will florish on 'Brown water'... eat that shyte like it's going out of style.
Seems a bit sketchy...but some folks like it.
You?
