BC LEH results are out!

It worked for me when i went back and tried again. I put in for 6-6 late draw for first and 6-8 late draw for 6-8. Then my wife put in for late draw 6-8 and 2nd choice 6-6....... I got my 2nd choice draw in 6-8 and she got her first choice draw in 6-8...... kinda scratching my head over that one.
nobody else I've talked to yet has gotten any luck yet.... still waiting to talk to others.
Time to start squirelling some fuel money away LOL

Yes it worked when I went back as well..
Sept Sept 25 to oct 16 6-09 for 2 bulls for the group

Lucked into the Kamloops lake ram in September here.. still bad to refresh the page 45 times to see if I was dreaming.

good one..... congrats that is some nice country to hunt.
When I first started hunting it was all about the rams but had to scale back my expectations after a work injury.
Good luck!

2011 to 2021 zero draws(minimum 5 applications each year)(so 5X6X11=$330 for the privilege). 2022 won a moose out my back door. Stoked.

Anyone here hunted the Kamloops lake draw for sheep before ?
I’ll admit I was only applying because it was the lowest odds draw in BC, and I have never and didn’t plan on hunting sheep.. I also apply for Rosie elk on the island and okanaghan goat for the same reasons, I don’t mind the $20 donation to conservation each year.

Now I have 10weeks or so, to learn everything I can so I don’t waste a once in a lifetime tag.

Welcome to life as it is known for the the rest of us.

What makes people who live in the Peace so special that they think they deserve a moose every year?

If the moose population was in jeopardy and the science supported it I don’t think most people would have a problem with it. When the reason for a limited entry draw is purely political and pushes racism that’s a whole other story.

Agreed.

I can’t speak for the sense of “entitlement” however I can say that people rely on hunting as much as the natives that get unlimited access. Many people in the Peace dont see hunting the same way that Vancouver island folks enjoy.
Just my 2c

Applied for only one LEH and got my moose draw for my regular hunting grounds here in the Peace. In fact, three people where I work got moose draws for the same region and for the same time.

region 5 went LEH many years ago and there is no widespread poaching by locals feeling a sense of self entitlement.
Lots of moose around but still LEH only. People here hate the rut closure for mule deer but I'm betting there is little to no poaching by resident hunters in that closure either.
To say it is a "race" issue is a bit of stretch but I get it. No one wants to mention the constant lobbying by the guide outfitters to close resident hunters out either. Many if not most of these are operating in some FN territory. I know it is that way in region 6 where I hunt. One outfitter I won't name gets 50 tags a year for moose alone and I have had to compete with them in the shrinking and now gone, general open season.
Government is the problem though it is easy to lay blame on the natives because no one wants to be the one dissing the outfitters LOL

but we are getting off topic...... let's get back to the who got an LEH theme.

Yes.. grew up hunting in region 6- thanks for weighing in!

Here in the Peace though it was a "race issue" as it was some of the FN bands that lobbied the BC Government to close the open season for moose claiming it was harder for them to harvest moose in the area with an open season. The irony is that not all the bands supported the idea.

No draw for me but some friends got a shared hunt moose draw in 7-29. Group of 4 but only allowed 1 moose. Has anyone heard of this? Typically shared hunts group of 1-2 can harvest 1 Bull and group of 3-4 can harvest 2.

Thoughts??

That is the way it used to be, at least for Region 5 where I used to hunt.
