Type-81 pictures, range reports, and modifications thread

For those with the TI rail, what optic are you running? Even though my LPVO looks great on it, getting a proper eye relief means I’m putting the front of the optic right near the ejection of casings. So I’m getting steel casing smacking up into the optic, and the inconsistent ejection pattern doesn’t help either.

im using ar 300 aac bushnell 1-4x24 no problem with eye relief but i need to put a cheek as it is a little high: im using the kobra rail mount with a mount vomz pilad piccatiny, or a primary arms prism 3x. none got hit by the brass but a posp will.

Okay awesome. Maybe look at wrapping a Russian tourniquet around the stock for some extra cheek rising?

People have tested the RS regulate 303 and apparently it works good. In general ones designed for AKs should work but models tailored to fit tight to SVD and VZ 58 dust covers most likely wont.

Very exciting news. Any estimates for drop or where we will be able to buy? Just don't want to miss production run and buy secondhand for double

The RS Regulate AK-303M lower rail can be found the real question is what side rail plate people are using that works with that rail system, and how they attached it to the receiver. Likewise, which upper rail attachment is best to clear and be central over the dust cover. I've been trying to figure this out for weeks and it's like no one is willing to explain their setup. It's annoying. Maybe it's detailed on another forum I'm not a part of. If anyone is running this setup and is willing to explain to me how they made it work PLEASE DM me. I have the ability to fab I just need the right starting points or I'll waste a ton of time and money figuring it out from scratch.

Good non permanent options will become available within the month its looking like, multiple companies and individuals have stuff in the works.

If ur curious how the AK / SVD side rail systems ( also known as the "Warsaw Pact" rail system ) work, give my Video watch. I mention some minor things incorrectly but overall it explains everything one needs to know. Getting optics centralized over the bore if tricky when it comes to the Warsaw system since its been part of Soviet doctrine to have varying degrees of left hand offset for decades. Despite the very common misconception this feature DOES NOT COMPLICATE BALLISTICS DOWN RANGE in any meaningful way. But i will agree that it is not left hand friendly. AND it does mess with some peoples OCD who are use to the centralized optics of the Western World. Later year Warsaw Pact optics did start to become centralized on AKs.

not left hand friendly?

left hand side optic and right hand safety ...

im left handed and it works pretty well for me ... on the case of the t81 the less issue one is the kobra optic as i think it is really lower than any other but with a good cheek rest the left hand side is not a problem. i would say depending on your size for your hands even the first version of ti rail works for me as well in the left hand configuration. the second with the kobra is slimmer and better.

i find the t81 really left hand friendly with the kobra rail mount and even better with that optic as it sits lower than others but more than doable just training.
