As the ad states im looking for something thats relatively cheap. Ive tried guns from canadian tire and they dont seem to have the power. Any good 1000 plus fps guns for 300 or less?

Airgun source. Couple different options out there. I settled with a Ruger airhawk due to iron sights being my preference, but there is far better in that price range I'm sure.

I'd suggest getting something in .22 rather than .177, since you indicate pest control. .22 will let you 'reach out' a bit farther with effective power. I have a 'nitro-piston' rifle that's said to be a bit quieter and controllable than 'springers'. I don't have a PAL rated springer so I can't definitively say. Either way you go, if you get a scope make sure it's 'Airgun rated' since even the 'Name brands' often can't take airgun 'double-recoil'. Ask me . . .

Look into the Crosman Optimus. It gets a lot of good reviews on the Canadian airgun forum. I prefer Weihrauch or Diana, but the optimus seems decent. It comes with a scope but its junk. A friend recenty bought one.

Look for a used Diana 34 avoid Spanish,Turkish and Chinese junk.Velocity without accuracy is useless. The Crosman springers are also NFG.......IMO

I picked up a Crosman 362 .22 for pesting. Shoots 15.6grn shy of 700 FPS. No annoying hold to shoot them accurately, down side multi pump. Just put a steel breech to mount an optic. Might throw one of the grav mags on it. So I can hold 5 pellets, so just gotta pump, #### and fire.

Unfortunately those three manufacture a bunch of airguns that are just rebranded under different names. Also you can get good stuff from them as well, just like you can get junk from nearly every other brand outside of a few high end brands

^I'm actually considering one of these, I've had a rotating door of various .22cal air rifles coming/going over the last few years, and am a bit fed-up with dumping money into decent springers and not loving any of them, or the weight. In equal measure, I'm nostalgic about the 1377 (with 1399 stock) that did more pest work in my pre-firearm days than you could shake a stick at. Pump-up pneumatics didn't hold me back in those days, may have to revisit.

And it's a bit of an ugly/weird-looking rifle=right up my alley! :)

Its actually not a bad gun, once you able to mount an optic onto it. Does what a tuned 2289 does in 10 pumps in 4. And if you think about it people are trying to sell 1322 for over 100, for 30$ more you can get a rifle, that has the capability of shooting 700 FPS, but also under 500 without pumping too much.

Tried 13.7 and 15.8 grns.

Settled. :)

Yeah, might have to make this happen. I bought a 2240 towards the end of the winter and was planning on building it up. This rifle strikes me as a far better option. I'll circle back to this thread when I have it all together.

I mean it's a no brainer, as someone that spent alot of money on 13xx and other crosman pumpers. I thought about getting a 13/22xx grip frame and putting a folding stock on it. As I drive my tractor to the end of the property to shoot my airguns. Normally toss it in back of the cart.

Ive been looking at both the ruger airhawk and the gamo outback myself.

^I can see the appeal for sure, but both of the last 2 guns I didn't love shooting were Dianas...which shouldn't have been the case. (to my way of thinking) Fun to explore a Crosman pumper again, I've been shooting them for over 40 years...but never one with a reliable amount of pigeon-busting power. (760 first, 1377 next, etc.) Scope I want to use is not springer-rated either, though if I was smitten with the idea of buying another springer to try, I'd remedy that.

Just my 2 cents, have a Diana 45 T01 .177 made in 1988, use heavier 11.5grn pellets, many - thousands of groundhogs, squirrels, etc over the years. Zero issues.
My older eyes needed a Hawke scope which really cuts down on ammo use. Easy kill shots to 50 yards...if you find a nice used one it should fit into your budget...

Picked up one today after looking through some posts and reviews.

I am also looking for an air rifle. Perhaps break barrel. I want something light. Still looking for something cheap from Canadain Tire maybe?
