Browning 28ga Superposed

I just looked at the Amazon listings, jaw drop $757 used in good condition.

Amazon.ca can be ridiculous that way. Did you look on abebooks.com, bookfinder.com or thriftbooks.com? Failing that, I suggest that if you just want the information, you try to get a copy from your local library via interlibrary loan and then photocopy the whole book. Not elegant, but useful.

You could also try FleaBay - sometimes a bargain is listed with "Buy it Now". You just have to be careful to ensure they will mail the book to Canada at a reasonable rate.

I am not looking for a copy, I have a copy I bought many years ago and contemplating if its time to move it on to a new owner and what a fair price to ask is.

Same deal if you're a Model 70 guy and don't already have a copy of "The Rifleman's Rifle" by Rule. $729 for a hardcover version or $122 for a print-on-demand softcover (which everyone says has poor quality images).

Yikes.

Try this website for an idea of current used book values:

I was shocked to discover a small paperback about Perazzi shotguns that I bought for a few bucks at used book shop is now commanding prices in the hundreds of dollars.

any chance you could give me some info on production in 1955? I have a 12ga with serial 47***.

Also, I have a slight bend/camber in the 'Take Down Lever Latch' (part #82) becasue it now stands a bit proud of the forearm - any idea on replacement procedure, of if the camber might be normal?

If it is cracked, how would I figure that?

Everything 'seems' tight, so my first exam told me the latch was bent - I couldnt see anything telling me something was broke.

Appreciated for the comment.

I had the forearm wood off this winter for deep cleaning - all was good then, but just took of again and still OK.

What it kinda feels like it someone gorillia'ed down the latch and bent it - and I didnt want to start prying it back incase the steel was know to be brittle and could crack.

Sounds like you should let a gunsmith take a look at it.

Its not that hard to replace, more than capable - but the question is should it stand proud of the finger well in the forearm about 1-1.5mm?

Alternatively, is it possible to 'bend' the steel in these latches to remove the camber - my latch system is original, and i don't want to risk breaking it if it is normal.

1 to 1.5 mm proud of the surrounding latch bracket is not normal. I'd use a straight edge to make sure the latch is actually bent or to see if there is another problem, keeping in mind that the serrated portion of the latch is higher than the rest of it. As far as bending the latch goes, I don't want to be the guy who tells you it's ok to bend it back but it did bend once, if it is in fact bent.

I do not have the Blue Book, but like the Joker said "I may not know art, but I know what I like!"

As do I, as do I know what I like.
Been a Browning Fan boy for many years and appreciate other firearms and M/C's as well .
Road Glide performed flawlessly on a 2500 km road trip recently too.
A bit of air pressure and fuel was all that she needed to purr along .
