Opinions on Mfg Quality of AR-15 Type rifles

One of the (few) disadvantages of my job, is that I tend to be exposed exclusively to one manufacturer of AR style (CF series) rifles & components.
That having been said, I know many other civilian manufacturers, both Canadian and US, who make quality rifles and components. But how do they stack-up against each-other in terms of quality/price?

For those who have exposure to multiple manufacturers, what order would you put them in? As an example, one of my associates at work lists his top three as Colt, Armalite and DPMS, (his rational is that Colt is better with uppers than lowers, but Armalite being better priced followed by DPMS).

Having said that, what is your opinion of who has the best quality & price on stuff that is readily available for us here in Canada?

Well, some of the stuff you cannot detect by naked eyes - for example, as a wpntech you won't be checking the hardness of the fire control parts - now do that to the DPMS and a whole bunch of C7, and see if there are any difference and consistency. Colt has a person whose job is to QC the hardness of every single fire control part

The bottomline is - most brands will look similar on the surface- and some civilian brands will probably "look" better. However, what is better? you want the most accurate? THe best looking? or the one that has the most assurance of durability and reliability?--- or just the cheapest

I wanted to avoid microscopic analysis at this point.....but I'm picking-up what your putting down. :) :popCorn:
I suppose a more universal way to put it would be to ask CGN'ers what their opinion of the AR rifle with the best ratio of quality (i.e. performance, construction, finish, service) to price. Colt seems to have the highest ratio, with both quality and price being very high. Is that a universal opinion, and if so, who's next in line? If you couldn't afford a Colt but still wanted a high quality AR, what is the next best choice?
Would it be an Armalite? DPMS? Dlask? Stag Arms? Rock River Arms? Olympic Arms? Wilson Combat? Bushmaster? L&G, American Spirit? (I'm missing a couple here...) How would you list them?
 
I really know little about AR15 type rifles. More dabbled in precision type bolt guns. I picked up an Armalite and have to say I'm quite impressed by the overall fit, tightness of this arm. Certainly better than I expected or have ever witnessed from any other military/para military type arm.

I suspect that with the availabilty of after market tighter bushings and little rubber cram fit tightener do-hickys that some rifles are pretty sloppy.

Factory trigger was pretty sucky however.
