Hi everyone,

I live in Victoria BC, and am wondering if any members that live on the Island can point me to somewhere I could shoot on Crown land. I’ve been told Shawnigan or Jordan river but looking for a more specific spot as I’m not certain where in those locations to go.

Thanks!!

Purchase a "Back roads map book" and set off up a forest service road for a look. I tended to shoot in quarries and dead end spurs (always check what's behind the back stop)

I preferred Jordan river as it tended to be quieter than shawigan. . I understand the desire for gps coordinates, but between gates, cross ditching, other user you kind of just have to get out and have a look.

Why do people think they can shoot in a quarry or gravel pit? Most are leased or privately owned and not shooting ranges. I've hauled out of enough of them over the years that I've heard how companies working them feel when they arrive to a mess of broken clay targets, empty hulls, pop or beer cans, cardboard, tires and other assorted items that were set up and used as targets and left to be cleaned up. Join a gun club or purchase your own land to use as a shooting range.

Not saying you would do it but I have seen more crap and garbage from shooters out in the "wild" to embarass me forever as part of the shooting fraternity. Empty cartridge cases ,tv computers shot to pieces and left ,disgusting.Always was told bring it in pack it out but seems to be a lost sense in this age ,my .02

Couldn't agree more!
